The Mouse's Bride (1928) Online

Paul Terry's contract with Amadee van Beuren may have called for this to be an eight-minute cartoon -- a full reel -- but there wasn't enough material on hand to stick to the story and the gags about it. As a result, this cartoon spends its first half vamping about goings-on around Farmer Al Falfa's farm. Some are good gags, like Al bringing the fish a drink of water. Some are pointless, like the way the mouse scares off the cats.

After four minutes, the cartoon gets down to its story as the mouse courts and runs off with the female mouse who seems to be working as Al's housekeeper. There's a good sequence with the goose, who combines the mercenary traits of a kid brother and a butler, but there simply isn't enough material to make this an interesting cartoon.
