Bob Weatherwax is an American Institution. What he learned about dog training from his father, coupled with his own natural talent and uncanny affinity for man's best friend made him the most sought after dog trainer in Hollywood for many years. Beyond his incredible work with Lassie (which will never be equaled by anyone) he trained the top performing dogs in TV and movies and even worked other trainer's dogs when they came up short. To hear him talk about his roots, about his love for dogs, and about his ambitions for the future is fully inspirational. He has a legacy that is unique in Hollywood. He has an ability for storytelling that is both touching and motivational. His affiliation with Temple Grandin seems a natural progression from just training dogs to being inspired by them to do more. I won't spoil it for the reader, but this is a valuable and very touching nine minutes. I feel in viewing it that I have been let in on something very poignant and very special. I can only give it the highest possible rating, but somehow it deserves more.

I am THRILLED to see some history come back to life. This brings back the tenderness and joy of my childhood when I watched Lassie and little Toto. I can give more of a background of the loving dogs that brings Lassie and The Wizard of Oz more to life. I also love the fact these wonderful dogs are used to help those in need. I am a big fan of our men and women who serve our country. And the heart to reach out to these brave people and others in hospitals brings me to tears. I am ever so grateful for your family doing such a heroic thing for these precious people. I have a young cousin with Autism and it saddens me that victims of this disease are misunderstood or pushed aside because of fear. Then not offering any type of help. Who would think a dog could help with such a needy people. Temple Grandin, thank you for opening ours eyes. I hope to intro my cousin to a furry companion soon. I am so excited that Mr. Weatherwax is continuing the legacy of such wonderful animals. I hope and pray that others can see the necessity for collies, labs and other purebreds as a "Major Need" not just a benefit in the lives of generations to come.
