After Louis drops his kids off at his ex wife's house, he stays home and notices a loud neighbor. When he visits him to see what the fuss is about, he and the neighbor get high. When Louis feels the girls would like a pet or a more fun presence to be around, he decides to get a dog from the pound, which brings instant bad news.

Louis C.K. originally wanted Zach Galifianakis to play the part of Jeff. But Galifianakis was unavailable.
C.K. specifically wanted a dog with reddish fur to match his red hair.
A part was shot in which Louie imagines himself being rubbed by the dog pound volunteer in place of the dog but it was deleted.
