Inspiration Point Inspiration Point is a coming of age story of Kevin Corrigan, an Irish Catholic teen, just beginning to discover life in all its wonderful, unexpected quirkiness. Kevin is a typical seventeen-year-old struggling with all of life's awkward challenges, most especially trying to find answers to the questions that never before seemed so complicated. When Kevin kisses Celeste on the deck of the lighthouse, a substitute location was used to match the rock-face of the lighthouse buildings. The locations was a private residence in Simi Valley, 200 some miles from Point Sur.
Nate Swardson, playing Patrick Corrigan, was the actual commander of the USCGC Halibut, the Coast Guard Vessel featured in the film.
