The movie won a special award called Best Super-Awesome-Uber-Whack-Mega-Gaylord-Magic-Suprise Film from the 10th Calgary Fairy Tales International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in 2008.
After Rufa Mae Quinto and Ogie Alcasid were axed from the project, Allan K. - initially tapped to play the gay sidekick - also dropped from the project despite producer Mother Lily Monteverde wanting him to be included in the cast. Allan K. said his decision had nothing to do with the change of the cast but it was more on giving weight to his respect to his Eat Bulaga co-host Vic Sotto who happens to have a film entry, Enteng Kabisote 3: Okay ka fairy ko... The legend goes on and on and on (2006), in the 2006 December film festival in which this movie was also an entry.
The characters played by Pauleen Luna and Alwyn Uytingco were not in the original graphic novel. They were only added in the film to inject a teenage element. The character played by Christian Vasquez was not in the graphic novel as well.
Mark Meily was initially tapped to direct the movie, but had to drop the project due to budgetary issues. Joel Lamangan was called in to replace Meily. Another director previously linked to the project was Erik Matti.
The film was not originally intended to be a musical. It was only soon after Joel Lamangan watched the stage musical top-billed by Eula Valdez that he was convinced to add songs to the film. The musical director/composer of the stage musical 'Vincent de Jesus', who won a critics award for his work in La Visa Loca, was tapped for the film.
