In 2016, the show became more noticed due to internet memes involving the theme song. Co-creator Jesse Hernandez and creator of the theme song, Nump, have tweeted and posted on Facebook about the meme, appreciating all the support.
Creator of The Nutshack's theme song, Nump, has been asked if Season 3 of The Nutshack will ever be released. Nump said on Twitter that season 3 should happen and how he supports the idea.
The NutShack was the first ever Filipino cartoon on American television.
An extended version of the theme song (by Nump) was released in January 2017, 6 years after the show ended (2011).
Characters Chita and Tito Dick were named after creator Ramon Lopez's parents.
The first season of The NutShack aired in 2007 and the second season aired in 2011.
The character Horat was originally going to be a pet skunk. They changed him to be a tarsier because the animal was more Filipino.
Rhia Abarquez, Chita's voice actress, was chosen for the role because she worked for free.
Every season 1 (2007) episode can be seen uncensored on the DVD release of the show, and season 2 (2011) never got its own DVD, so the episodes can only be seen censored for television. However the season 2 episode Ning Ping Part 2 (alternatively titled Bomb China Part 2) was eventually leaked online fully uncensored in 2016.
The show has been referred to as an anime despite being a Filipino cartoon.
Tito Dick's real name is revealed in the show to be Richard Cabeza. "Cabeza" is Spanish for "Head."
