After a mega thrashing by the Hawks in a game, Mike in rather low spirits, decides to abandon basketball and look for a job. He goes to the job-center with Hooper. He tries a couple of jobs ( a road sweeper, a maintenance man) but someone doesn't want him to get a job and settle down and they do everything in their power to get him fired each time.
