"Resignation" finds Dietrich having to shoot a felon, wounded but not killed, then tendering his resignation on high moral grounds. Barney points out that Dietrich has a long history of quitting past jobs, convincing him to stick around, which proves annoying for Levitt. Mario Roccuzzo (third of six) plays Ira Russo, who turns himself in for a crime he committed in Arizona, robbing a group of nuns of $1300. When the state of Arizona rejects his request for extradition, he is allowed to walk out, no criminal record in New York. A successful performance is interrupted when the play's author (Steve Franken, second of two) attacks on stage an actor (Peter Elbling, second of two) notorious for changing lines, outraging the producer (Allan Rich, second of three), whose wife knows about his extramarital affair and doesn't mind!
