Officer John Halloway arrives home on his 45th birthday, only to find no surprise birthday guests waiting for him. Frustrated and alone, with a day old cupcake, John makes no wishes and goes straight to bed. Suddenly John is awakened by a camera man who has barged into the back door of his home at 2:00 AM, unannounced, ready for a ride along. As matters begin to get worse, John is ordered by his Captain to train rookie officer Peter Swanco, a strange and unlikely officer who claims he took his police exams over the Internet. The film begins with a cop going off duty and going home to bed. However, he awakens and is in some sort of surreal life. A bizarre camera man is walking around his house, the dispatcher insists that he is NOT off duty and must respond to a call and a weird rookie cop just appears from no where. None of it makes sense--it's all like a dream that never ends.

This is a short that I really wanted to like. Heck, for the first half, I was enjoying myself but then the short film just kept going and going and going--and the longer it went, the less satisfied I was with the film. This film definitely illustrates the maxim that "more is less". There just didn't seem to be much of a point. About the only thing I enjoyed was the performance by the befuddled cop.
