Sue Ann McRae has lived as a poor farmer's daughter all of her life and wants to experience the other things life has to offer. She is stuck at home tending to her father, two young brothers, and the hired hand Joe who wants to marry her but isn't able to get her to discuss their relationship. She decides to leave home so she sneaks out at night on her own leaving a note for her father.
