Sue Ann McRae has lived as a poor farmer's daughter all of her life and wants to experience the other things life has to offer. She is stuck at home tending to her father, two young brothers, and the hired hand Joe who wants to marry her but isn't able to get her to discuss their relationship. She decides to leave home so she sneaks out at night on her own leaving a note for her father. At the road she grabs a ride on the stage from Mr. Tait with passengers Trampas and a drummer into Medicine Bow where Trampas and Ryker show her a fun time at her first church bazaar. Her father and hopeful boyfriend Joe track her down with help from Trampas at the boarding house where Trampas suggested she stay. Her father decides that if she wants to see the world he can't stop her but Joe decides to stay to look after her and finds a job at Shiloh.
