Terraria (2011) Online

Take on the role of an adventurer as you explore a randomly generated map while facing off enemy npc's.

The Dungeon Guardian has the highest defense of any enemy in the game, topping off at 9999 defense.

The Moon Lord is considered the "final" boss in Terraria, and is based off of Cthulu's brother.

There is a rumor that the friendly npc "the Guide" is secretly the Wall of Flesh boss.

The Dungeon can be one of the most dangerous places in the game as a beginner (other than the underworld.) If you go down there without using the summoner (old man) at the dungeon then you can die by the dungeon guardian. It is a jumpscare. If you summon the dungeon guardian (or the boss, skeletron,) after a minute before morning. This considers the dungeon guardian's jumpscare also.

It is rumoured. There is a second game, but it is unknown at the moment. (Not Otherworld)

Terraria is a 2D sandbox game by Re-logic. It is full of content and has almost infinite customization of characters. This customization includes dye, vanity, armor and equipment items. Unlike other sandbox games like Minecraft, characters are separate from worlds.

When you start the game, it drops you into a neat-looking, 16-bit and randomly generated land. You will notice a character walking around your spawn. This is you life-long companion, The Guide. He comes in later, when you have to kill him. Whoops, spoilers! You then continue to making a house, getting people to move in, rage quitting, and fighting giant eyes.

This game varies, as you start with chopping down trees and poking slimes, to fighting amazing battles, and braving the extensive Dungeon.

Overall, this game has no end and infinite possibilities, making it an amazing 10 out of 10 game.

First off this game is NOT for the faint of heart, it will chew you up and spit you out if you are unprepared. Secondly, I wouldnt recommend this to a child under the age of 12, because the parental guide to this game missed some suggestive item names/ more suggestive NPC dialogue, the bosses/creatures can frighten young viewers, and the difficulty of the game could be a bit much for those that dont have a fast reaction time.

Everyone before me has captured the fact that this game is ENDLESS! They also have done a good job at stating the fact that this game is 2D, unlike Minecraft. What they continue to fail to tell you, though, is the amount of items/weapons/armor in this game! After being spawnsd into your world, you have a guide to start things off. Other than giving vague clues as to what to do next, he is pretty much useless (except for later on in the game.) The first thing that is recommended is to build a house before nightfall and get the guide to move in. Afterwards you should go mining, beginning to make your character better by extracting ores/metals and finding life crystals. By the time you get back to the surface, youll be able to have more npc's move in, and more than likely be able to take on your first boss. This is a continuous cycle throughout the game, as defeating bosses progresses the game, making it more and more difficult as more time passes. Bosses also tend to get more difficult as you progress in the game. Remember that guide npc I told you about? SPOILER! He the litteral and metaphorical WALL that blocks your way into the midgame that takes 8+ real world hours to prepare for! You either overprepare for this boss, or you die millions of times trying!! And if you thought that the wall was bad, another spoiler! You now have 3 MECHANICAL bosses you have to defeat! And they are harder versions of bosses you most likely have slain already! The only thing is, you wont be able to use past equipment, cause itd be too weak to even deal substantial damage to them! These bosses especially have the abilitt to scare younger players.

Upgrading your equipment is also a never ending cycle in this game, and can also take the better part of a real life day, as it can get pretty grindy to aquire all of the items youll need for just one recipie. Im looking at you, Ankh Shield! You too, Cellphone! Certain items also have suggestive names, like a spell tome by the name of "Golden Shower," or the bait item "Master Bait" (this is the name of a real life item too, and fisherman actually joke about this quite often.) Female NPC's, if encountered on a Blood Moon in the game, tend to get quite irritable, which happens to be the root of a joke I have with my friends. And I forgot to mention that some of the monsters you find while mining can take you by suprise! The lost girl actually is a Nymph that wants to eat your flesh, and you may become the next poor soul to get turned to stone by Medusa!

Overall, this is a great game, but Id only recommend it to people 12 and older. If you allow your kids to play it, then make sure your with them and make sure you also dk a bit of research on the game itself so then you can help them and explain things as time comes. Heck, this could be a potential bonding experience for you and your kid if done right!

A massively fun game. You have no main goal, but killing all of the bosses seems like the most realistic one. And, oh my, does this game have a lot of memorable ones. For the sake of not spoiling anything, I won't say any of them, but most of them are completely unique, and even those that aren't, still have at least something new and fresh to bring. But one of the major gripes I have with the game, is how much the progression gets tied to the bosses, especially in Hardmode. A few other activities would've been greatly appreciated. Terraria does something I haven't seen a game do, and that is the prospect of characters and worlds being two different things. What I mean by that, is that when you create a world, any of your characters can visit it. Yes, this does mean your high-levelled character can give your three-minute-old one an absolutely over-powered sword, but seeming as the player has already acquired the item, it does little to no harm. The items are all incredibly unique, and I was acquiring them by the bushel, items such as the Umbrella, or the Money Through. There is usually a wacky event happening for you to partake in. Another major part of the game is house-building. While making a house early-game is quite a fun task, later it becomes laborious work, and houses that fit the criteria always have a chance to not work at all. Graphically, the game looks great. Every locale, NPC and block is well-made, and I enjoy the simplistic style. The music in the game is also a high note, no pun intended. From the main theme, to the ominous one of the Corruption, each track fits where you are well, and they transition oh-so perfectly. Mods are another giant factor of Terraria and there's no shortage of them. Small, yet almost compulsory ones, such as the Boss Checklist are just as great as massive, content-rich expansions that mods like Thorium give you. Co-op is just as you'd think it'd be, and it is quite enjoyable. Overall, Terraria is a very enjoyable game. Except for the second half not being as enjoyable as the first, and a couple other redundant features that I dislike, the game is a flawless 2D action-adventure game, with heavy RPG elements.

At first, terraria might seem like just another minecraft clone, but it's much more than a pretender.

After a lengthy character customization (with 42 haircuts! 35 of which I don't use), the world dumps into a seemingly peaceful world, armed with a short sword; pickaxe and an axe. If in any case you a doubt or two you're in luck! A guide is here to help you... who doesn't give any useful or at least coherent advice, luckily there's the wiki guide. From that point on you are to explore, build, venture and fight you're way through this new place you now must call home.

Terraria gives the appearance of a 2D adventure retro game; electronic old-fashioned music and blocky textures give an immediate sense of profound nostalgia to any childhood arcade gamer.

The sheer amount of weapons, crafting recipes and materials may be overwhelming at times; with each update including more and more to do and explore; events, bosses and advanced weapon and armor crafting all come in the package.

So why do I think it's great? It's more direct sense of adventure and objectives give it an edge with the casual gamer against games more focused in building and creative indulgence. The variety of mobs and even greater of weapons to defeat them give a rare sense of freedom to use whatever weapon fits your desires. A game of such depth offers many ways to play, you can be a high DPS mage or a high armor tank. whatever your style is; terraria makes sure you don't miss out.

Terraria is a vast and deeper game that you could have ever though of, setting itself apart with every slash of your swords towards the end. It takes every best bit of what makes a genre great and mashed it into a 2D sandbox of everlasting fun. Terraria proves it doesn't need a massive community that provides mods and servers to make a game good, it's single player quality is enough to keep any sandbox enthusiast satisfied. Terraria earns a solid 10/10
