Now, Christian, with the help of a groupie with an attitude, has to save his beloved fans from total damnation.

Dean Portnoj was the first actor to be cast after the director had seen him in a sketch demo.

Tommy Johansson was the second actor to be cast. Tommy was the directors first and only choice to play the lead. They had worked together previously on the movie Viimeinen Kapinallinen.

Erik Lindholm had suffered a concussion while working as a jailer, which made it very difficult for him to memorize his lines. In the church scene, Erik reads his lines from a notebook.

Arsi Saarijärvi was one of several actors interested in the part of the bodyguard, but he had no prior acting experience. The director gave the role to Arsi, because he was so taken by the personal struggles, that Arsi had just gone through in his personal life.

Vilma Pitkänen was not originally cast in the picture, but in the editing process, the director felt that the movie required a comedic narrator to appear in between scenes, so he wrote the role for Vilma and filmed all of her scenes while in post production. Vilma Pitkänen never read the complete script, only her own scenes.

Christian Dreadful's make up was first based on the look of Adam Lambert but because Tommy Johansson, who plays Christian Dreadful, refused to shave his beard, the director settled for more gothic rocker look than a pop icon.

While filming a fight scene, Tommy Johansson accidentally punched Dean Portnoj in the face. This take was used in the movie, and is also included in the making of documentary.

Frans Isotalo has a small cameo role in the movie as an evil fan. He was supposed to appear in the final scene as the same character, but was forced to change his hairstyle for the movie Vares - Pahan Suudelma. The Director did film Frans with a totally different hairstyle for the final scene, but used all that material in the opening credit sequence of the movie.

Juuso Peltola never met with the Director Niko Kostet while he was composing this movie. They communicated only by email and Facebook chat. They met at the premiere for the first time.

Paula Kovanen was the third actress cast. Her character name in the screenplay was Inka. In the final cut of the movie, the name was dropped out, and she is referred to just as The Groupie.

All of the outdoor scenes were filmed indoors in a soundstage.

The special 'look' for the flashback scenes was made in-camera by combining self-made streak filters with Black Promists. Net filters were used in various scenes, including night scenes. Almost every scene involves some kind of diffusion, usually made with Black Promist or Black Supermist filters.

Aapo Lettinen shot this movie with almost 30 different lenses, including old Nikkors, new Sigmas and Tokinas, old Tamron Adaptall zooms and old M42 lenses, including Helios 44-4M and Porst 35mm/F3.5. Sony MHS-PM5 was used in various scenes for imitating a cellphone camera.

All hand held shots were made without using camera stabilizers of any kind.

The original idea for the movie came from the Finnish version of Idols.

After several screenings in Finland and abroad, Christian Dreadful became one of the most successful independent movies to come out from Finland in 2012.

Premiered at the Eknäs film festival in 2012, but was officially released by Continuum Motion Pictures in 2013.

In 2017, Continuum Motion Pictures expanded the distribution of this film to DVD and Unlimited Streaming with Amazon Prime and to Roku's 24 Hour Movie Channel.
