I dont understand other reviewers on rating it below 5! The entire first 6 episodes build up on the characters, story, tension on Frank visiting Labelle and destroying it revenging Roy's betrayal, how the entire town defends, the gunfight everything is perfect. Even there were a few goose bump moments when you feel like shoot him, shoot him... I dont judge this series w.r.to its correctness over a golden globe but rather on its entertainment value and drama. its 10/10.

This last episode holds a seriously wonderful gunfight. Just love this whole season and what a splendid finale for the season. Hope there will be another.

I have been raving about Godless for weeks now. Finally taking the time to finish the last few episodes, I had very high hopes for this final episode. I was disappointed. While I usually thoroughly enjoy needless violence in television, parts of this episode felt incredibly unnecessary.

When Frank and his gang ride up to Blackdom, I knew what was going to happen before it did, but I had hoped that I was wrong. The slaughter of every person in Blackdom felt to me like they were needlessly killing off a people that had nothing to do with Frank's vendetta purely for the heck of it. The deaths were purely for shock value, and that is my least favorite type of death in cinema. To kill a town of folks that had been previously hailed as some of the most dangerous men in the territory in such a way felt like a huge disservice to the characters, the fans, and the show itself. It also, left a bad taste in my mouth that these people, who Frank had no issues with, were gunned down simply because of their proximity to La Belle.

My second issue was with the way the ending was handled. It left a lot to be desired. The whole show is slowly building up to this big, beautiful ending that will make it all worthwhile. Or so I thought. Alice and Roy don't end up together, even though he's been this incredible father figure to Truckee the entire series, and Alice deserves everything in the world considering she was one of the best parts of the show.

The entire series, Alice and Bill interact about 3 or 4 times, and yet it's heavily implied that they end up together in the end somehow?? That is the least romantic thing I've ever heard. Granted they have a history, but still, she's known this man for clearly a very long time and in that whole time she's apparently rebuffed him(most likely several times). I would have been more satisfied with Alice and Truckee ending up alone, and flourishing, rather than with her ending up with the Sheriff. It felt forced, and inappropriate, as if the two main characters of the show were simply handing her off. After such a promising show, it felt like an insult to Alice's character.

I didn't hate the entire episode. I did enjoy the climax, the gunfight between the citizens of La Belle and Frank's gang was satisfying and full of interesting camera techniques, as well as gratuitous violence.

Another thing I appreciated was the final showdown between Roy and Frank. In an episode previously, Roy had brought Truckee to a clearing. Roy and Frank's final confrontation brought them both there, with Truckee caught in the middle. Roy's influence on Truckee had clearly made him a better person throughout the show, and the idea of Frank undoing that influence makes a big impact on the viewer when Frank encounters Truckee.

Another reason why I had thought that Roy would stay with Alice. Roy had a chance to have a family with Alice and Truckee and I'm furious that he blew it. Roy's decision to meet up with his brother in California falls flat. It doesn't seem right to me that he would leave this family that clearly loves him, for a brother that might not even be in California when he gets there. Its been a long time, and the brother could easily be dead.

All in all, the episode was good, not great, and was mildly disappointing after so many great episodes.

A good series. The final episode just lets down the entire series. You get what has to happen but so much of it makes no sense on why certain characters do things or why they are in certain locations. .

Let me start by saying that I've never reviewed anything on IMDB, but I felt compelled to after watching that pathetic finale. I loved this show very much but that finale left the most horrible taste in my mouth. It's almost as if the show was scheduled for 14 episodes but halfway through the shoot they ran out of money and had to end it after 7 episodes. Look I won't go into the particulars but anyone that is a fan of great drama and great television that rated this unrealistic finale above a 6 should be ashamed of themselves. It was by far the worst episode of the season and one of the worst finales of a season that I've ever seen.
