In rural Arizona, Isaac, a young man distraught after his mother's death, returns to his hometown to get revenge on her killer and reunite with his estranged father.

In rural Arizona, Eric, a recently widowed man, attends church service. His estranged son Isaac visits a local dive bar and does cocaine in the bathroom. Upon returning home, he finds Isaac waiting for him. The two have a heated discussion about Isaac's return and it is revealed that he originally was made to leave by Eric due to his drug habit. Isaac admits that he has been struggling to cope with his mother's death two years ago but that he has returned to get revenge, and thereby, peace. The culprit appears to be the bartender who Isaac visited earlier that morning, but wasn't charged with the murder due to a clerical error. Warning him not to do anything irrational, Eric leaves to go speak with Pastor Brian about what he needs to do to help Isaac not ruin his life. Pastor Brian tells him that he has been too harsh and urges Eric to find compassion for his son and help him get clean.
