Even though the studio was pushing for other actresses for the role of Lily, director Gregg Bishop insisted that Hannah Fierman reprise her role as Lily from the segment 'Amateur Night' in З/Л/О (2012).

The film was scheduled for 18 days and budgeted under a half million dollars. Post production was rushed and as a result several final visual FX shots were not approved by the director because the post house had to cut them in and deliver the movie.

Executive producer David Bruckner was heavily involved in the making of the film and directed the second unit for the movie upon the request of director Gregg Bishop.

For the parts of the movie where Lily sings, the filmmakers decided in pre-production to utilize Hannah Fierman's singing voice. The plan was always to have her lip sync to a guide track for the first take to just get the melody and timing of the song (never intending to use that take), then in the following takes they would have her sing it for real. It is Hannah Fierman's singing voice in the final film.

The film stars Justin Welborn as Mr. Nyx, who also starred in David Bruckner's Сигнал (2007) and Gregg Bishop's Адская вечеринка (2008).

The plot has no obvious continuity issues, and the scenes are carefully thought out, if a bit naive - but in a positive, honest way. It could even be called a spiritual sequel to the 'episode' with the demon girl in V/H/S, the influences are clearly there but the story is constructed separately, in a neat narrative. The actors are refreshingly on par, nice chemistry between the cast shows through which is always good. The movie is not a huge production, and it does not try to be. This is a good thing because it shows focus on what can work. And it is not lazy or jaded, nor does it look 'poor'. The few downsides it does have come naturally from a lack of budget, but they are not distracting. Other than that, it manages to feel like a properly engaging movie.

I am certainly not sorry for spending the time to watch it.

If you are reading this review you have probably seen a few dozen slasher films where over-ripe teens are treated like the main course at a Korean BBQ.

This is NOT one of those films.

Fresh and innovative (and based on a short subject which was extended to full length) this film introduces us to a new class of victim -- namely smug and cocky young males out to show off their swag at a bachelor party.

And it works. It is much more fun watching these guys get eviscerated when trying to pretend they are who they are not (like for example "rescuing" a girl at a sex club in a swamp without realizing she is some sort of demon) than watching teens gets hunted at Camp Runamuck.

Great dialog, interesting and fun.

And contains what could be one of the best throwaway lines in horror -- when the demon finally catches up with the brave soul who unknowingly risked his life (and the lives of his friends) to rescue her, she pins him down on the floor like an appetizer, grins with demonic eyes, and proclaims, "I like you." And I like the movie too.

When I heard this spin-off was actually happening; I was at first surprised while also really excited at the possibilities for the story. I am a big fan of the V/H/S movie and Lily's segment was by far my favorite part. It had the right amount of mystery/suspense/gore to leave me infatuated and wanting more.

Fast-forward to the Siren movie and we are given a prequel story to Lily. Much like the segment, a few guys go out looking for a good time but eventually find themselves in a very dangerous situation.

This movie is for a very select demographic, that I just happened to belong. That demographic is the pro Lily demographic where when Lily appears in a movie I'm going to find something to like about it.The acting in this is mainly a miss with a couple of exceptions and the story does have its clichés. There were some other interesting concepts (mainly one) presented but were not fleshed out enough, sad to say. The main and only reason someone should watch this is for Lily. The story really drags without out her as the guys were not interesting in the least. The hints of excellence comes from the inclusion of a new creature that helps carry the story along. Lily's action scenes were also a plus and her characters overall direction throughout the movie. After a good chunk of time the story picks up and for the most part I can safely say I enjoyed what I saw.

I guess as a warning if you are considering giving this movie a try. If you are not a fan of sex and violence in your movies this is something you should stay far away from as that is 85% if not more of this movie. In the stories weak spots they seemed to crank up the those scenes to 11.

It's surprisingly great, fun movie! The actors were okay, but that "I like you." girl is always creepy, and she does a fine job. I love how they made this movie based on Greek mythology. I think it's a fine horror/fantasy movie. I'm was a fan of Hannah Fierman's character from V/H/S (2012) from segment 'Amateur Night', but after watching SiREN makes me love her even more.

I'd give it a solid 7/10.

I really liked it. Loved all 3 VHS movies and fondly remember "Amateur Night". I was so intrigued by that and I'm glad Hannah Fierman got to do this movie and we got to see 'all that she was' in action.

When they pulled the Medusa thing, I thought it was a stretch but I couldn't get over how cool it was so I ended up liking it - just didn't know they were gonna get that crazy on me.

Great attention was paid to sound and atmosphere. I think Hannah did a great job and so did the rest of the actors. I enjoyed this movie a hell of a lot more than I enjoyed The Lazarus Effect (2015). I think it deserves more than a 6/10 on IMDb. **I found this to be a solid movie with an intriguing story and a satisfying ending. ***8/10*** in my book.

The VHS movies seem to exist in an alternate reality where many of our nightmares exist. I think that VHS and Bloody Disgusting should expand on all their shorts and show us more of this hellish world. Granted, not all the shorts were gold, as I think there were various directors involved for each but there were some gems in there like "Amateur Night", "Tuesday the 17th" LOVED that one,"A Ride in the Park" Zombie movie VHS style.. yes please. "Safe Haven" stuck with me. Im not sure how "Vicious Circles" struck others but I like it enough to want a bigger and better job done on it like they did with "Amateur Night"s The Siren. Might be something with "Dante the Great", but the actors were kinda sub par, good idea, meh execution. "Bone Storm" wasn't 'spot on' but it was classic VHS stuff. Cant get enough of the good FF films like As Above So Below, VHS, The Bay, Afflicted, Grave Encounters, The Tunnel etc.

Bloody Disgusting films are tricky.. it's like they want you to take them seriously.. but not toooo seriously. It's a hard balance to strike with things suddenly getting very real but, are at the same time, being very unreal. I'd love to see more from Bloody Disgusting and the like.

I am a horror fan but have been disappointed lately with all the retold stories out there. When I saw this movie on redbox I checked IMD and read the first review. When I read demon girl from VHS I was sold. I really enjoyed that episode so I headed off to the box and I am glad I did. Really I think this is a prequel to the VHS story. I thought the acting was good and special effects. I like how it brought out a sense of endless nightmare, like those dreams you can't wake up from. These folks have stepped in it and there's no going home for you Dorothy. But seriously, I would recommend this movie to anyone, horror buff or not. Good times to the end.

'SIREN': Four and a Half Stars (Out of Five) A feature adaptation of a short film segment (called 'AMATEUR NIGHT') from the 2012 anthology horror flick 'V/H/S'. It was directed by Gregg Bishop, who also directed a short segment of the 2014 sequel 'V/H/S VIRAL' (called 'DANTE THE GREAT'). The film was scripted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (based on the short by David Bruckner and Nicholas Tecosky). It stars Chase Williamson (of 'JOHN DIES AT THE END' fame), Hannah Fierman (who also starred in the original short), Justin Welborn, Hayes Mercure, Michael Aaron Milligan and Randy McDowell. It tells the story of a group of guys out for a bachelor party, which goes horrifically wrong when one of them unleashes a man killing monster. The film is a lot of fun, and it's definitely in the same league as 'V/H/S' and it's sequels. Jonah (Williamson) is about to be married to his beautiful fiancé Eva (Lindsey Garrett). His brother (Milligan), and his two best friends (Mercure and McDowell), take him out for a good time before the big event. The strip clubs they go to are boring though, so they decide to check out a lesser known club; that another customer tells them about. Once there they realize the place is a lot different than anywhere else they've ever been to. When Jonah meets one of the girls, supposedly working there, he decides she needs his help and tries to rescue her. This turns out to be a deadly mistake. The movie has a great premise (taken from 'AMATEUR NIGHT' of course); it's well made and effectively creepy also. I think Bishop did a fantastic job stretching the short into a feature length film, and the cast is equally as impressive. Especially Williamson and Fierman in the leads, but Welborn makes a great bad guy too. There's even some touching romance to the story, in a very bizarre and creepy way, with a great horrific twist at the end. I really like this movie.

Hey what if you throw From Dust Till Dawn and Beauty and the Beast to a blender then add a little bit Twilight into the mix you will have this movie.SiREN is a feature-length adaptation of Amateur Night a horror segment from V/H/S back in 2012 directed by Gregg Bishop.First i say this movie is very different from the source material so if you already watch the original you will still find this movie fresh and new.The plot follow a group of guys on their way to celebrate a bachelor party for a friend but their fate soon end up into a wrong direction when they decided to follow a strange guy to a secret midnight club that promise to give a best night of their live. The club soon turn into a living hell hole when the main characters Jonah accidentally free a demonic creature take form of a woman so now she kinda fond of him and want to mate with him now.Beside the horrible acting and clichés characters development this movie actually has balls to did many thing that help it far more interesting and memorable than most of B horror movie nowadays when the shock value of this movie really high with one of the most amazing and craziest sex scene i ever see in a horror movie. The make-up effect of the creature is top-notch when it not only scary but also very sexy if you have fetish with monster girl :).The only problem for me is when it about to show a very gory violence scene they usually shot it in a very uncomfortable way that take me out of the movie sometime.Overall it a good watch and i highly recommend it for horror lovers

As a fan of the first V/H/S, particularly the segment upon which this film is based, Amateur Night, this prequel-sequel does not do the series justice. What made the first film great was the romantic element, you just couldn't help but fall in love with Lily. She was the cute, quiet, shy girl who "likes you." (Of course, with quite the dark secret, but that's part of the appeal to us sick ones.) This film rushes every encounter with Lily, and does next to nothing when it comes to expanding any sort of story surrounding her. Not to mention, she seemed to change from a succubus to a siren somewhere in between these two films.

I will concede, however, that SiREN does add some interesting details. Take Mr. Nyx, for example. A "man" that appears not to age and owns a supernatural strip club? Again, my gripe is that the film did not expand much on the details. You're just expected to run with it, "A supernatural strip club with cult-like outfits and memory leech drinks? Of coooouuurrrse!"

In summation, if the film had focused just a tad more on the details, fleshed out the story a bit, amped up or added more romance/sexy demon scenes, this movie would've been exactly what the fans wanted. Damn shame it wasn't.

Is there one horror buff out there that hasn't seen the much acclaimed V/H/S/ franchise. Well if so you do know that there were some weird and gory tales to see. "Amatuer Nigh" was on the first part and let this full feature being an adaption of it.

When I did see the siren it immediately reminded me of Splice (2009). Did I like Siren, well, somehow it did remind me of the VHS segment but it didn't feed my hunger. There isn't that much of gore in it. Let me even say that there isn't that much of horror in it or even scary moments. What it did deliver was a lot of nudity at strip bars but after a while I thought, let's bring in the horror.

So many reviewers did like it somehow but for me it was rather weak. It do has a few good moments but face it, the hitting of ones knee to break it is done off-camera. And the biting of the siren in faces is also done off-camera. Siren looks to me as a flick made quickly to cash in on the VHS reputation.

Siren is a spin off from the VHS films, which of course mixes up a variety of horror tales, in new and amusing ways.

There's bloody bucket loads of black humour on offer here, alongside a few "sort of" creepy zany scares all bundled up with a weird tale of unrequited monster love. Its a good mix that's calculatedly camp and, in my view, all the better for it.

As you might expect, given this flicks VHS pedigree, there's a lot of mixing of familiar horror themes and a few moments that feel like tributes to other horror film's. Most notably and without giving too much away, this films ending is somewhat reminiscent of the closing scenes in the first Jeepers Creepers film.

If you like your horror a little "way out" and "off beat" Siren is definitely worth a look. Seven out of ten from me.

So I am a horror buff I'm always looking for the next great horror movie, I watch a horror movie a night. I've been excited about seeing this movie for a while now and the movie did not disappoint! It was amazing. The "siren" who is really more of a "succubus" (a female demon believed to have sexual intercourse with sleeping men) was really quite terrifying and they did such an excellent job with her character. I did see the segment in V/H/S where her character originated from, the same girl reprises her role in Siren. I don't want to give away any spoiler you love horror movies as much as I do you'll love it too. There was a scene of "rape" (succubus to man) that was a bit hard to watch but I see why the scene was necessary for the story of the movie. The actors were all excellent and believable. The story and production quality were top notch as well.

First of all I'd say it's a B movie, so nothing blockbuster about it. I also don't think the title matches the 'creature' of the movie at all so it's misleading, well kind of.

Overall, the acting was average and with the bland background people made the movie seemed lifeless without the element of thriller or a horror. I mean there's no sense of danger of a creature lurking/ hunting it's victims nor is there gore or blood to make it a 'horror' and I'm not a blood person myself but I expected more.

Overall not a great movie, the plot seemed lacking, the acting was average for a B movie. I would not recommend this and as I said, the movie trailer was much better.

This movie was excellent. If you enjoy horror movies, you should watch it.

Although I wish you would take my advice, some people need a little more persuading, so….

I went into this movie blind, not having seen any trailers or reviews. Mermaids are my favorite mythical creature, so as soon as I saw the title, I wanted to watch it. I was a bit taken aback because this siren is not a mermaid, but a demon that can use her voice like aquatic sirens. I was easily able to look past that this siren had wings instead of a tail.

Justin Welborn did an amazing job as Mr. Nyx. Even his outfit was perfect, and usually I would think someone wearing that is a bit douchey, but he pulled it off.

Once the bachelor party gets into the mansion things start getting really strange and takes a very dark turn. There's more than just a lap dance or two, and they bring it right out onto to the stage. (No hiding the debauchery behind closed doors!)

The kill scenes, along with the blood and gore, were done well. And as a woman, who has seen lots of violence and rape towards women in movies, it was an interesting turn of events to have this done to men instead.

And although the ending concluded how I figured it would, there was still a small twist, which I enjoyed.

I love this movie. I must have seen it a dozen times. "I like you"! Great Casting, a great story, Unique which is almost impossible. I love it that they concentrate on the story line more than graphics although the graphics they use are amazing!!!

A supernatural love story with humorous and terrifying twists! A great mix of everything I look for in a movie.

20 May 2017. Siren is one of those horror movies that might have been better, but really how could it? Too often other movies become so simplistically, stereotypical. The PBS television movie Dracula (1997) had similar polished authentic focus. Here the Siren is depicted quite well considering, without either the romanticized nor the glorified monster portrayal. Like in the Keanu Reeve's cult horror Constantine (2005) or perhaps even more like the more recent depictions of eerie characters like Anya Taylor-Joy's Morgan (2016) or Scarlett Johansson's Under the Skin (2013). In the lower budget tradition of Stanley Kubrick's last movie classic Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Siren really wasn't so much scary as it is absurdist horror with a more human inhuman twist. So really this movie while it isn't superb and a great classic, it is a solid horror movie that stands out from most other for its creepy factor, its more all American plot outline, and its more somber rather than typical gross out ending.

This is exactly what I'm looking for in a fun weekend horror film. Very solid writing, good acting, a solid monster, and an overall fun ride. It's got some very Lovecraftian overtones, which I loved, and the characters, acting, and writing were all well above expectations.

Cops and some cowboy arrive at a scene. There's bloody footprints going up walls and some ceremonial circle drawn in blood on the floor. The cops are eliminated. But the cowboy knows what's going on and what to do. Someone has summoned something and he calls it...it's just a naked girl. He gets her in the circle and puts a brace on her.

Elsewhere four friends are driving to some tolerant town to celebrate one of the guy's bachelor party. The best man is his brother who is all about wild fun. The plan is to say yes to everything.

They end up in some strip joint that is rather underwhelming. The brother meets a guy at the bar who says he knows a place... Sure enough the gang follows this guy somewhere and they end up in some mansion with lots of attractive girls. Running the show is none other than the cowboy from the into. Has has something special in mind for the bachelor Jonah. But in exchange he wants their fondest memory of their mother. He hypnotizes them and his sidekick insert leeches into their neck that are collected after they relive their memory. The leeches serve as carriers of memories and can be inserted into anyone to relive those experiences. Now Jonah goes through corridors to a windowed door where he sees the girl from the intro, Lily. She sings to him and he relives his most ecstatic moments. Then he decides to rescue her since she's captive in a locked room. He frees her and manages to escape with his friends, but Lily is on her own now after she butchers one of the bouncers.

The guys crash into a tree and then the cowboy shows up, he wants Lily back. Lily appears and grabs Jonah in spectacular fashion. She likes him and has kinky sex with him. Eventually the guys end up in the clutches of the cowboy again. He needs Jonah to lure Lily into captivity again, but Jonah is too good of a guy and that causes him trouble in the end.

I very much enjoyed Amateur Night, the source material for Siren. And Siren expands on a great idea. It fortunately ditches the POV format and gives us a high quality feature film. Siren is smart, funny, original, fascinating with several surprising moments. It's not perfect, performances are all over the place, but Justin Welborn's outstanding performance carries the movie--in terms of performances. I'm also not a fan of horror at night and in total darkness, especially if your main character is a naked girl. Compared to the standard predictable horror movies that make little effort but just go through the motions, Siren offers so much more, including a very rich and intelligent script.

2016 hasn't been a good year for horror. Siren stands out as one of the best recent horror movies.

Bachelor party boys go to celebrate and they went to a lousy strip club. Then, there is a mystery guy who approaches and recommends a better place (So wwhy he is doing here in the firstb place?) Then , they go to the brothel and bum! Whores, whores, whores, and more whores. The dialogues are fulled with sex crap and the acting is even worse, so amateurish. The production is A-OK, but the cast is awful.

I get really bored.

"SiREN" is the latest venture into the bachelor-party-gone-wrong vein of horror. Two brothers and two other guys (all friends) venture out into the night for a little debauchery since it is one brother's last night of freedom, so to speak. They are guided to a rather opulent home--in the middle of nowhere--where there every wish is promised to be granted. However, they should know better to open Pandora's box (in a manner of speaking). The movie overall was not that bad. The acting was better than expected, the colors used while filming the guys trips on mushrooms was very interesting, and there were some very different camera angles used.

That's the good. Now here's the bad. If you are going to make a movie about creatures from Greek mythology, I suggest you at least do a little reading before you start filming. Sirens were mythical creatures whose songs were so beautiful they were able to lure sailors and their ships onto the rocks causing imminent death. Some researchers say they had the bodies of birds with the head of a women or vice-versa. They did NOT have demon tails. I also found out they were cannibals, something I did not know!

The movie really never knew where to go. It started out muddled and it ended muddled. I don't know if the producers of the film had a knock-down, drag-out fight with the censors but it appeared to me the siren's nude body was (at times) blurred out of vision. I don't know what that was all about, but it was very distracting. Also, no explanation was given as to the attraction of the girl to that one particular man.

Rated R for horror violence and nudity, The SiREN's song here is a little off-key.

i thought it was going to be another b minus movie until i watched it. I was really surprised at how entertaining it was. I can't wait for the next part seeing that the Lily female flew away with the lead male. the Lily female was very sexy even though she is a creature, the movie showed us she has a very nice butt too! The story was OK but i think with a better writer this could turn into a very nice trilogy, the next installment could make or break the chance of getting to a third movie.I have a very different taste when it comes to movies so i don't expect people to see the same things as i do so with that being said i really hope they make a second installment because the story is not finished!

This was a decent film, not the greatest but watchable. There have been many versions of Sirens but the original Greek mythology depicted them as half woman half bird. What I liked about this film was how they created the Siren. I found myself more interested in the Siren and the backstory of the man who held her captive and the whole beginning scene of when he found her. None of that made sense and it wasn't addressed. So, lots of holes and lack of explanation but otherwise, it's good for something different to watch when bored.

I can understand people expecting a "run of the mill" horror are disappointed with this movie. It's more of a fairy tale kinda movie, a blood and gore love story, which at times reminded me of "The Beauty and The Beast", or "The Phantom of The Opera". Except this creature is a female demon from hell, a Lilith, who sings songs of captivation, hence the title.

They did a very good job casting Hannah Fierman to play Lilith. Her big eyes and a pretty little face, weird and sexy. She played the part really well. I also liked that particular sex scene between her and Chase Williamson. Brutal and erotic.

Justin Welborn also did a good job playing the creepy/weird Mr. Nyx.

Concerning Lilith action, the camera and lighting could've been better, I'm not a fan of quick dark and flashy fight scenes, but I found it a decent movie in spite of that. Overall acting was good and the writing original, at least I've never seen a movie like it. As a pure heart stopping horror it should have a bad rating, but as a fantasy/horror/romance it deserves at least a 7.

10 stars minus 3 for bad camera/lighting.

I prefer to be honest in my reviews, and not inflate the ratings one way or the other. I think it deserves a 6. But I loved this movie anyway . It is technically a prequel to 'Amateur Night' from VHS, which was outstanding and terrifying. That segment instantly made me a fan of the VHS series, and very well may be the best segment of the 3 films. I think the director of Siren made a wise choice in not making this a scary film though. To try to recreate what came from Amateur Night would be a lost cause, because the fear came from not knowing what Lily is. This movie, instead celebrates horror as a genre, and has fun with it. The entire movie almost seems to be like its told from the perspective of Mr. Nyx, the sleazy character that the story hinges on. The tone of the movie suits his character more than any of the others, so it changes the movie from scary horror to fun horror. There are some moments in the movie that are jarring, and the practical effects are great. But there is some CGI, which unfortunately for me docks the movie points. I love the premise of the movie, because it doesn't just make it about Lily, the siren. What's more interesting is a nightclub/strip club of potential monsters. This lets us see the movie more as a fantasy movie than a horror movie, and I think that makes it work better. Lily scared us in VHS, now she entertains us Siren. I couldn't really ask for more out of horror movie villain. Watch the movie for fun, not for scares, and you will enjoy it.

From director Gregg Bishop comes the 2016 creature feature SiREN; the story of a bachelor party that turns into a fight for survival when the groom accidentally releases a dangerous predator.

I found this by chance when I was browsing for a film to watch late one night, and decided to give it a try. I knew that likely, it would be a bad film, with nothing much to hold it, and I wasn't expecting much from it; maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.

I found this film to be quite unique, even though it was based off of V/H/S and another piece of media, Amateur Nightt. The story itself – the groom releases a siren after being totally bewitched by her, and murder, gore and a fight for survival follows. The only thing that did rather annoy me about this film was that, it took a while to start up. It was very slow to begin, and that really put me in a bit of a bad mood with it. It took me a while to get into it when it did eventually start up, but I was grateful I was rather bored with it. It made the beginning of the story line and the action much more exciting.

The acting in this was really well done, and all actors and actresses deserve to be recognised for their work in this film. They obviously worked hard for it and it more than definitely paid off; the acting in this, for a creature feature, is absolutely spectacular.

The special effects, as a make up artist myself, I have to mention. They were shockingly good. They were very realistic, they looked like the siren herself was something you could come across in the street when walking at night, and isn't that the goal of special effects? Unfortunately, of course, there was the insane blood splatter that just isn't realistic at all, for the gore factor shock horror, and that was a real disappointment, after the film was just so strong in everything else.

In summary – the acting and special affects are A*, the story line could have done better and is about a B-, and the overall experience was amazing, ranking about an A-
