I was able to catch "The Last Stop Café" by chance recently at the "Nashville Film Festival". Not anticipating any more than a low-budget, angsty film nerd piece, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the suspense/film noir short as a whole, in particularly in the cinematography and musical score as well as balanced performances from its leads (Christy Lynn Smith and David Atkinson).

While the suspense story seemed just a little contrived to me (ie. some plot devices and lines of dialogue obviously inserted to move the story to the "pay-off" ending), writer-director David H. Jeffery successfully utilizes picture, sound and music as performers, to compliment his talented flesh and blood cast.

The result is a very entertaining independent short, made with the quality of an A-List studio feature.

As short, low budget films go, this is an example of how you can make something of a high quality.

Without giving anything away, once you have watched this film, you should watch it again, and you will then see so much more of what is going on.

The acting is good, the soundtrack not over the top and the directing is worthy of a high budget production.

Put simply, I would say watch this short film and see what can be done. Especially if you are a film maker, r fan of indie films.
