Blink (2015) Online

A young woman falls asleep but soon becomes trapped in her dreams.
Cast overview:
Helen Magowan Helen Magowan - Unnamed

Actress Helen Magowan, who plays the film's protagonist, is actually quite afraid of blood despite having to work in a scene with it. Like, she's really afraid of blood. Like you can't even say the word "BLOOD" around her or she'll freak.

Magowan sites her heavy breathing scenes as her most superb acting to date.

Co-director Isabella Dalla Betta caught actress Helen Magowan in a plethora of trust falls in order to achieve the proper effect when Magowan's character falls into the frozen lake.

The book on the protagonist's bedside table is open to a personal essay that hold special significance to the story.

The film won multiple awards at student film festivals, including "Best Editing" at the Boulder International Film Festival's Teen Short Film Showcase and "Best of the Fest" at the Niwot Student Film Festival.

The film marks the start of a romantic relationship between co-directors Josh Whitaker and Isabella Dalla Betta.

More hours were spent filming the bathroom scenes than any other scenes.

Audiences are divided as to whether the young woman dies in her sleep at the end of the film, or is just a really heavy sleeper.

When filming at a butterfly pavilion, Magowan was terrified of butterflies, referring to them as "Satan spawn".

Whitaker sites the frozen lake scene as his favorite of the film.

The students who made the film were juniors in high school at the time.

Filmed over the course of two weeks.

Words cannot describe the beauty of such a masterpiece, but I will try my best. I came across this movie in the suggestion column while watching an obscure cat video on Youtube. It immediately caught my attention, and decided to give this short film a go. Boy, was I in for a ride. This movie was so deep, Inception wishes it could be this film. It was so deep, not even James Cameron could've explored the depth of this film with his submarine. Immediately after watching this film, I promptly chugged a whole handle of Jack Daniels and cried in a corner while questioning not only my own existence, but the meaning of life itself. After passing out from copious amounts of self-questioning and hard liquor, I immediately set forth to use the my new found enlightenment to tackle the mysteries of the cosmos itself. I discovered the meaning of idealism and happiness, and I soon after disposed of all materialistic possessions which I owned. The streets may be hard to lie down on, and the nights may be cold, but I can sleep easier every night knowing that I have achieved Zen. I am reborn. I have shed the skin the society has placed upon me, and like a marvelous butterfly, I have sprouted out of my cocoon and now I can truly fly. Fly free. Fly free as a bird. I could've sworn I saw a triple rainbow with magic dolphins leaping across the sky after going outside for the first time after watching the film (but that might have been the alcohol). People may give me dirty looks as I run through the streets naked with only princess wings strapped to my back, but on the inside, I know they are jealous that I have obtained enlightenment while they cower in the shadows of ignorance. Josh Whitaker, I would like to thank you for everything your film has done for me. My parents may have disowned me and my friends always tell me that, "you should seek help," but because of your film, I will never live another day in gloom. Marvelous? Astounding? Breathtaking? What word could even come close to describe this movie? This movie doesn't just deserve an Oscar. Not even the Medal of Honor would do such a film justice. Do you remember in the final scene of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, where Luke Skywalker sees the ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin after blowing up the Death Star? Yeah, it sort of felt like that after watching this movie. Being touched by Beyonce wouldn't even come close to the joy this film has brought upon me. Hannah Montana once said, "Nobody's perfect," yet here is Josh Whitaker, riding down from the heights of Olympus on a mighty golden Pegasus, and just like Titan Prometheus who gave humans fire, Josh Whitaker blesses and entrusts mankind with his own treasure. In short, good film. 11/10. Would watch again.

I would have voted a 20 out of 10 if it was possible. 10/10 for the movie and 10/10 because Josh Whitaker is so cool. Best movie I have ever seen. Josh, if you are reading this, you are an amazing and inspiring film producer. I cry every time I watch blink. It touches me on an emotional level. I just wish there was some diversity in this film. Where are the brown people? This is so cool. Honestly this should win every grammy, emmy, and Oscar. It has the best leading male (Josh Whitaker) the best leading female (Still josh Whitaker) best director (you guessed it, Josh Whitaker) and the best costumes as well. Josh Whitaker should have to make a separate room in his house to fit all of his awards. Actually, he needs a house just for his awards. Josh you are love. You Are life.

10/10.

I heard, I came, I saw, I came ;). Honestly though, great film and everybody should watch. I love how it was filmed, and I think Josh Whitaker is a genius as well as Isabella, and Helen. The acting and editing is superb and this film gave me the hibbie gibbies. This film is ineffable. I simply cannot write much more about this film. There isn't any talking l, but it speaks a lot to me and my soul. It may seem like a silly comment, but I really cannot. It's too good for words and IMDb is making me write a whole 10 lines. This film deserves the award and much more. So for the last two lines i will write a poem to describe this film. Roses are red violets are blue, I think I love this film, more than I love juice. The dreams in this film are much too real, I think I have too many feels. The feelings of this film and more than great, it's superb, flames.

This short has the potential to frighten, enlighten, confuse, amuse, and inspire the whole spectrum of audiences - from the film experts to the woefully uncultured (and yes, I am reporting from personal experience). In other words, Blink is true art. And true art is not easy to come by these days.

As Josh Whitaker's debut in the film world, Blink also allows us to expect great things from this rising director/film technician in the future.

Keep it up Josh!

Can't wait to see what comes next!!!!!
