This was one of five scripts by writer Cash Markman to compete for the Best Screenplay award at the 1992 Adult Video News awards show in Las Vegas. Markman, however, used his pseudonym Bill Dollars on this one out of fear of being targeted by the F.B.I. and the political right due to the theme of this controversial movie. The other four entries, "The Cockateer", "The Maddam's Family", "Sex Trek II: The Search for Sperm," and "Temptation Eyes", didn't step on any toes and were all credited to Cash Markman. The writer did not win that year.
The title on the script was "Feds in Bed." But the distributor was nervous about that, especially since the movie mocked the F.B.I., which was on a well publicized war against the makers of "pornography" in 1991. So the movie was released as "Americans Most Wanted." The Federal agency in the movie was changed to the F.B.Y. When the movie became a hit, and was nominated for an Adult Video News Award (for Best Screenplay), and no one got in trouble with the law, Marc Cushman was asked to write a sequel, utilizing the same characters and the theme, and, this time, the title "Feds in Bed" would be used.
