Especially these days, we need a movie to remind us what we all have in common, our search for love and authenticity. Filmmaker Jill Salvino manages to weave together many different types of stories from people of all colors of the rainbow and relationships that cross all kinds of obstacles and gaps, to put together a touching account of how much love, for ourselevs and for one another, is what we all share, even if at times it seems like it's what divides us. Watch and spread the love!

Truly one of the most extraordinary documentaries I have seen in years, "Between the Shades" shines a light on such a Zeitgeist subject with such pathos, openness, sensitivity and brilliant storytelling. By connecting the common transparency of 50 people in discussions about their own sexuality, the film allows each viewer to arrive at their own notions about what is now clearly such a wide spectrum on this hot button subject of our times. I am a straight man, and I went to see the film with a straight woman. We both stood-up and cheered as the credits rolled at the end, loving each and every participant, fully embracing the individuality of us all, and the deft hand of the filmmakers. We were definitely entertained and elevated.

Brilliantly edited, Between the Shades orchestrates a series of interviews showcasing the astonishing diversity within the LGBTQ community. Filmmaker Jill Salvino weaves a narrative of love and perseverance using the emotive quality of personal storytelling. The raw quality of personal narrative, with it's roller coaster of emotion, truly define what it means to be different.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Between the Shades,' and how it explored the differences within the LGBTQI community. It's one of those rare documentaries that's riveting, enlightening and informative, as well as highly entertaining. The interviews reveal genuine stories of fears, struggles, hopes, celebrations and triumphs. Bravo to filmmaker, Jill Salvino!

'Between the Shades' is an amazing documentary that truly is all about love.

It challenges the idea of what love "looks like" and also reminds us of what we are all searching for - love, acceptance, and the freedom to just be.

Filmmaker, Jill Salvino, did a great job of bringing all of these individual stories together. I sincerely enjoyed this film from beginning to end.

There were so many things I always wondered about....those things you would love to ask someone, but don't really know how to approach the subject. "Between the Shades" was able to answer those questions and educate me in a charming, and inspirational way. The way in which the questions and scenarios all tied together was masterful! The amount of empathy and understanding I walk away from really changed my life. Should be a "must view" for every person on the planet!

Between the Shades is an incredible documentary showcasing a variety of those in the gay and lesbian community as they share their life stories and struggles. Filled with empathy (greatly needed in this country right now) and heart, this is a must see documentary for film lovers! Highly recommend!

These personal stories reveal love experienced on many levels and also the challenge of love denied during formative years. Under the sensitive and caring direction of Jill Salvino the heartbreak and joy of experiences not usually revealed become an emotional education and inspiration.

Was one of the folks interviewed for an improv Q and A session. Impressive film with interesting subject matter. I see this film as a as similar to a documentary with a clinical viewpoint as a few physicians were interviewed during the film as well.

Highly suggest attending the premiere of this film at the Soho Film Festival in New York City in June 2017.
