When discussing forensics, Gretchen describes the "Jump, Push, Fall" analysis as something she "saw on Crossing Jordan (2001)". Tim Kring, created both that series and "Heroes".

The system of equations given during Claire's linear algebra aptitude test is: x+2y+3w+4z=10 2x-y+w-z=1 3x+y+4w+3z=11 -2x+6y+4w+10z=18(However Clare's comment, "Is this a joke?", is pertinent. It is indeed a joke. A solution is simple and ridiculous: x = y = w = z = 1. However, it is not the only solution. For example, x=2.4, y=3.8, w=z=0 is also a solution. The complete solution could be written as: x=2.4-s-.4t y=3.8-s-1.8t w=s z=t For all real values of s, t.

There is a character named Lydia, who is a tattooed lady. There is a song called "Lydia the tattooed lady" which was popularized by Groucho Marx.

Samuel Sullivan gives the opening dialogue in the series premiere. Mohinder, Nathan,Sylar had all had an opening dialogue.

Season 3 definitely had its faults: with having focused on to much action, less on character like in season 1 and 2, a lot of fans were disappointed. But redemption, with 3 episodes underway is proving to redeem itself. I have already read several bad reviews on the first 3 episodes and in the end, it shows how spoiled these people are. Instead of giving it a chance, they turn their back on it, Redemption is back on track with the primary focus on characters instead of the action. We are introduced to new characters with new abilities, who aren't recycled ones. One plus to all this: it stops being about to save the world for the million time, which was getting old real fast. If you want characters behaving like in comics, running around in tights, think again. What I truly find interesting is Matt-Sylar-Nathan connection here. You would have to watch to see what I mean.

I really like this episode. It's my least favorite Season Premiere, compared to the other Season Premieres, but it's still really good.

In this episode, back home in California, Claire begins college but is having trouble adjusting after her roommate's apparent suicide. Which of course, puts her back into the spotlight. Hiro and Ando continue their quest to help people with abilities. Angela fears that Nathan-Sylar will discover his true identity. Matt tries to settle back down in Los Angeles to raise his son. Meanwhile, Peter is using his ability for good when a mysterious carnival, led by Samuel, arrives in town, which could be trouble for everyone.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.
