Ghost Whisperer Horror Show (2005–2010) Online

When professor Rick Payne recommends orphaned finance student Kylie, daughter of his late colleague and friend, to sort out Melinda's shop accounting, she notices a scarily masked ghost about her, who intrudes Melinda's sleep in horror movie 'quotes'. Payne helps them work out the clue is a students film club in which she collaborated with a late aspiring horror director.

While reading over a list of students' most feared horror movies, Professor Payne (Jay Mohr), gives Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) a small look when he says "Ich weiß, was du letzten Sommer getan hast (1997)". Hewitt starred in that film.

Professor Payne mentions "I Know What You Did Last Summer" which Jennifer Love Hewitt (Melinda)stared in while reading over Melinda's shoulder. When he says the title he pauses and glances at Melinda. If you watch closely he cracks a small smile before the camera angle changes. The 90's cult classic is mentioned several times in the series Ghost Whisperer.

The ghost, Toby Bates, has the same last name as Alfred Hitchcock's character Norman Bates. Norman was the killer and psychopath in the 1960 Thriller, "Psycho".

While connecting the ghost to well-known horror movies, Professor Payne lists the film "I Know What You Did Last Summer", which Jennifer Love Hewitt (Melinda Gordon) was the main character of.

I can't believe no one said anything about them "breaking the fourth wall". When mentioning the movie 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. The Professor takes a few seconds to stare at Melinda after saying "I Know What You Did Last Summer". As he was paying homage to her being a main character in that movie. It made me giggle because it was like hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge - You played in that movie Melinda! hahaha I just thought it was funny and cool. So I wanted to share!

If I recall this episode correctly, Professor Payne asks Melinda to mentor a young lady who is herself being haunted. I think I have that right. Of course, the sinister-looking ghost hovering around the gal turns out to be something other than we think. This show often seems to be about not judging a book by its cover. And while we're at it, let me say a few words about the professor. When Jay Mohr was first introduced to the series, I thought this will be the ruination of the show. I was wrong. Mohr has brought an added touch of comedy and pathos to the series, which could easily have stagnated without his character. He is the polar opposite of Melinda's stony-faced, even-tempered husband. This episode is a strong one for Mohr.
