Household waste being dumped on public lands is a unique problem in the rural south of the United States. For many residents, leaving one's garbage in secluded areas of the forest was a culturally and legally acceptable alternative to using designated refuse sites, until the environmental reforms of the late 20th century outlawed the practice. Despite this, the tradition- combined with poverty and poor education- has led to a persistent hazard for public and private land managers. No Dumping Allowed is a short documentary examining this issue in central Louisiana, where illegal dump sites are still a regular threat to the environment.
