This is another of the Charles Mintz Scrappy cartoons. In the one, a goat is being held hostage in his own cabin by a wolf knocking at his door. The goat calls on his phone for help so Scrappy sends his little brother to arrest the wolf. But the younger bro keeps coming back from the winter snow until he has a couple of rubber hot water bottles on him. I'll stop there and just say this was quite funny especially near the end with some creative ways of taking care of the wolf. I've seen quite a few of these Scrappy cartoons now and I remember liking what I saw of them. A lot of these rare Columbia animated shorts are on YouTube. So on that note, I recommend The Wolf at the Door.

A wolf tries to get into a goat's home. The goat phones the local Mountie, Scrappy, who sends Oopie to save the situation in this superior Scrappy cartoon.

Dick Huemer's Scrappy cartoons are among the best he ever did, with a constant mixture of terror -- note how the howling wolf is animated in a dark and terrifying manner at the beginning -- and the childish-games way in which the youngsters behave -- Scrappy sends Oopie to fight the wolf with a butterfly net and a couple of hot water bottles.

Many of Huemer's Scrappy cartoons have a great beginning but run out of steam halfway through. This one never eases up, remaining vastly entertaining from start to finish.
