Любовь приходит тихо (2003) Online

Aaron Claridge dies while leading his pregnant wife Marty, an East coast teacher, on the wagon trail to the West. Destitute and unprotected, she accepts a marriage of convenience with widower Clark Davis to help raise his brat daughter Missie all winter, in spring he's prepared to pay for her return. Missie is hostile to 'mother substitute', but as the months pass Clark achieves a rapprochement.

Katherine Heigl had to learn how to milk a cow for her role as Marty Claridge.

In the scene where Marty cuts the dress using a dress already made for Missy as her pattern, she cuts directly alongside the edge of the dress, not allowing extra for a seam. That would make the dress too small to fit Missy.

In the book series, the name of Marty's first husband was Clem Claridge.

The dress that Marty cut to make a new dress for Missy is one of her own, although they are pretending it is Missy's mother's dress. That is why Missy was talking to it and her mother while touching the dress. It had been over two years since the first Mrs. Davis died. Mr. Davis would probably have gotten rid of them. Also, the trunk where Missy pulled out the dress was where Marty's trunk was placed by Clark when she had first arrived. That is where it was sitting when Marty was pulling out dresses and talking with Missy as she sat on her own bed.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie since I have read the book...twice! I love Janette Oke novels! The "Love Comes Softly" novel is part of a series, so you can continue on with Missie's life, etc.

Sometimes a movie just doesn't do justice to the book, but this one does!!! I was not disappointed at all! The heartbreak and grief that losing a loved one brings is revealed very well in this film. Best of all, the film shows how sometimes a marriage of convenience or out of necessity can be a real blessing. It teaches all of us who live in this day and age that love does not always start off with bursting fireworks or burning passion. As the film portrays...sometimes love just comes softly. :)

To the actors Dale Midkiff, Katherine Heigl, Skye McCole Bartusiak and to Director/Producer Michael Landon, Jr... Great job!!! 10/10

I needed the help of a friend to be able to see these movie, but as I heard it airs I couldn't wait until it would air in Germany. Unfortunately it can take years until movies are shown in Germany. These movie is one of these movies I could watch daily. It's wonderful and convincing played - just excellent! Reminds at the Little house in the Prairie . The story is heart warming, the pictures great and Dale Midkiff, Kathrine Heigl and Skye McCole Bartusiak do a terrific job. This movie brings up the wish, there should be more Clark Davis' in these world (thanks to a terrific Dale Midkiff). I wish there would be more movies like this on TV, I enjoyed every second!

This is a wonderful movie about loss, love and faith. It has become my absolute favorite movie...for now at least. The little girl Missie is such a doll and perfect for her role.

The movie has a bit of "Little House on the Prairie" feel to it but has a lot of it's own appeal. All of my friends love this sweet movie, too. Just shows Hollywood that not all of us are into the s_x, blood and gore of most movies out there. Most of us adore the more faith-based, clean, wholesome movies.

My favorite part that makes me cry every time is when Marty is swinging on the homemade rope swing and is crying and crying over the loss of her husband...awe, just too sweet. And then when Marty walks in on Missy crying over her mothers death and confronts Marty, oh, my heart just breaks.

This is a movie that the whole family can watch together.

I must say that I enjoyed watching "Love Comes Softly". I think it was very entertaining and is suitable for all ages which is always a good thing. Skye McCole Bartusiak shines on screen as the bratty daughter and it's a pleasure to watch her. Superb script and casting.

While I didn't expect too much from this movie despite the fact that I generally like Hallmark channel movies, I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

Not only was the acting very believable, but the plot was original and had a lot of heart. This movie made me smile, get teary-eyed, and think. I think what makes this movie rise above the average is that it reaches many different people on various levels. It challenges you to think outside the box, to not accept the conformity of society and set your own standards while crossing over the line. It teaches you the importance of family, even 'broken' ones, and letting new people in, to have faith in people. Love Comes Softly combines entertainment, drama, and emotions to make the best Hallmark channel has ever seen. Definitely worth watching over and over again and it gets 10 stars for a well written script and a great acting job by Katherine Heigl, Skye McCole Bartusiak and Dale Midkiff.

This movie has a few things going with it. First off, all the actors/actresses do an outstanding job in their roles. Katherine Heigl does by far the best job at playing Marty Claridge. She is in nearly every scene, and her delivery of lines and expressions is priceless.

Ditto to that on Bartusiak. It's difficult to believe she was only 10 or 9, because she has the natural ability to behave rather than to act in a role. It had a good story and easy to identify characters. The great thing about this is that it doesn't dwell on drugs, bad language, violence and loud and unrelated music. IQ of 80 or below. Seen in that context, this movie is waaaaaay above average.

Nevertheless, the film portrays children and adults as resilient, capable of not only facing such challenges, but mastering them. It's a well done made for T.V. movie. It's Hallmark, so it does have a certain "cuteness" to it, but it's much, much better than those overrated Disney Channel Original movies, heck, it's better than all that garbage in theaters. I'm glad that some movie didn't get made just to rake in big bucks.

With so many movies oriented toward violence, anger, brutality etc, "Love Comes Softly" is a breath of fresh air. I love all types of movies but where would we be without an occasional heartwarming, uplifting(at times) classic like this?

If you haven't seen this yet you certainly should. It's delightful, touching and a great film for the family. You will not disappointed! I've only seen it twice, but still it manages to totally take over my thoughts as I get involved in its world. I was nervous because it was based on a book I loved (I read it when I was 11), it could have been a pathetic disappointment. Instead it draws from the book beautifully the characters and attitudes that made the book one of the greatest of all time. I don't normally watch prairie movies, but lately I've taken an interest in the 1800s. I'm really glad that they make movies such as this one. Like I said above, it doesn't dwell on sex and drugs, and it's not a bore. It's a great book made into a great movie, kind of like "Little Women". Great cast and great direction that will please the whole family (except for your teenaged son).

Go rent or buy this film when you have some time. It's worth it!

Good job Michael Landon Jr.-your dad would be proud. It appears that you are following the legacy of your father, in producing and directing good television entertainment that can be shared by the whole family. This movie reached all kinds of emotions in me to the point that I actually felt I was a part of the movie. All the actors did excellent work in portraying their characters and their personalities. I suppose the biggest surprise to me was that the roll of Clark Davis being portrayed by Dale Midkiff of "Elvis and Me." If showed me that if the actor is really talented, he (or she) can do justice to any role, even the most unlikely or unexpected. But it is important to say that it is because each of the actors did an excellent job in portraying their characters, that this movie was so believable and memorable. The movie is of the caliber that we expect of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, even though it wasn't. I hope we can count on many more movies of this caliber because there is an audience for it....and I too, would like to see a sequel to this movie, "Love Comes Softly."

It's refreshing to see a movie like Love Comes Softly. I sat at the edge of my bed at midnight watching as this beautiful story unfolded. The commercial were driving me crazy. I just couldn't wait to see the next scene. Hoping that she would see this wonderful God fearing man before her, loving her. I was in tears as she walked away from love so stubbornly. But as in life, God has his own timing and love won in the end. I wish more movies of this nature would be release to the movie theaters. Who'd every think you could pull off such a wonderful love story and have no sex involved? I applaud the film makers and the author for making a movie so griping and inspirational that I walked away with smile on my face.

My best friend has this movie & watched it last Friday Night...all I can say was that probably was the best movie I have seen in a long time...I have the Love Comes Softly & When Comes the Spring Book Series by Jannette Oke...I loved them too...the movie was so good...I can't wait to see the next one..."Love's Enduring Promise", I am sure it will be good too...the actor that played Clark was SO good... he was always so calm & understanding...I really wish their was guys like that in this world...nowadays...I know the movie comes on Hallmark Channel, but we do not have that on our satellite...but I want to see the 2nd movie too...my sister has got Hallmark Channel & she watched Love's Enduring Promise & she said it was really good too...but she liked the first one better...I guess I will just wait til it comes out in video...won't I~

Well i loved Kathryn in Roswell and when i seen this movie advertised i knew I'd have to watch it. I tuned in and boy was I surprised. I recognized many of the faces in this movie. The acting was good and the story was much better than i thought it would be! The little girl was so adorable and I've watched many of the movies she was in as well. I would have loved more 'lovey dovey' interaction between the two leads but it was still a good movie. 8/10

Don't try to compare the book and the movie. Just love each of them in their own right. The only things they have in common are a hand full of the names and the chicken beak clip. Neither one should be discarded because it isn't identical to the other one. I was thrilled to see the commercials stating that it was coming out. For some reason Hollywood seems to think that viewers want to see practically pornography and blood and guts 24/7, but sometimes you just want something calm. I love Dale Midkiff. I've been a fan of his since Time Trax and The Magnificent Seven so I was definitely glad to see him again. He makes those 1800's hats look...Wow! I would love to be able to collect a hug from him. This was my first time seeing Katherine Heigl in action, and I like her too. My only thing there was I'm sick of hearing women give birth on screen, but it wasn't her fault that was in the script. I wish I knew how to contact Michael Landon, Jr. so I could tell him about Lori Wick's 'The Californians' series and 'A Place Called Home' series. Also Lori Copeland's book 'Hope' would be a humdinger to film, she is hilarious. If you want a pleasant evening, watch this movie or read the book both are good in their own way. Rita

Completely recommended for those who seek good television.

Enjoyed every minute. Natural understated acting. You may know the end when it starts, but it sure makes for a very pleasant evening's watching.

We need more like this.

This movie is excellent all around, and it greatly held my attention! Not only is it a period piece with interesting history to tell, but it presents a wonderful message and leaves you feeling good about life. Also, Katherine's acting in this movie is superb. A must-see movie!

I just finished reading this book a couple of weeks ago so I was pleased to see that it was coming on TV. I was a little concerned about who they would cast to play Clark Davis but I was so pleasantly surprised by Dale Midkiff. He was perfect for the role (who would've thought - Louis Creed).

I applaud Hallmark for this wonderful family movie! It has such a great message. And it was a great performance by all of the actors. Please, Please make more like this! (just continue the story with the same characters and all. I promise I'll watch every single one and I'll tell everyone else to as well).

One of the best movies I've seen in my life, one that I will make sure I own, so I can watch it again. It touched me very very deeply, the man's deep faith in God in the face of all the trials and struggles of being a settler. The acting was tremendous, perfect casting.

We all go thru struggles, some of them devastating, many of them that make us wonder why God ever let this happen to us, many times horrible things happening to good decent people. If you've ever felt like you had to deal with life alone, please, watch this movie. It is well worth your time.

Very inspiring movie, about people, need for each other, need for love, and an unmovable faith in God.

Unlike many of you, I had never read - or even heard of - Ms. Oke's series of books before seeing this film, despite having been a huge fan of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books (and the show) as a kid. I just happened upon the beginning of the movie as I was surfing channels last week, and I was hooked. I normally like edgier fare (such as "The Daily Show"), but this is such a nostalgic treat! I actually went out and found a copy of the book "Love Comes Softly" (it was in the young adults' section of the second-hand book store) and read it. To tell you the truth, I like the changes that Michael Landon, Jr. chose to make in the screenplay. I prefer Missy as a pre-teen and Marty as an opinionated, well-read young woman who has to come around to Clark's point of view on faith. In the book, she is a bit too much of an empty vessel for his teachings.

All of the performances in this film are honest and affecting, if not pitch-perfect. Katharine Heigl uses some of her dramatic opportunities to soaring effect, particularly in her portayals of grief. But Midkiff - wow! He is heartbreakingly perfect in his portrayal of a character that might have come across as preachy and overbearing. It falls to him to hold the audience's hand and deliver the film's broad message of religious faith; but he doesn't grip too tightly, and his quiet manliness and humor are so compelling that...well, is any one else half in love with him? My only complaint is that, in an attempt to make a completely family-friendly film, Mr. Landon has gauzed over some of the physical hardships and intimacies inherent in the plot. This kind of cheats the audience out of some powerful emotional moments that help propel the characters' relationships. I like the fact that the film is wholesome; but it is possible to be clean without being sanitized.

I didn't really think this series was going to be my type of movie, though I have always liked a good romance. It definitely reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. I'm sure we all know why that is. When I watched this movie the first time, I cried throughout. It is absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend watching the entire series, especially watching them in the proper order. If you can't find a place to rent them, they would be well worth the purchase! I'm just trying to save up money so I can buy them for myself. I wish Little House on the Prairie would come out on DVD as well so I could add it to my collection. Unless it's come out and I just haven't found it yet?

I have never read any of Janette Oke's books because I thought they were basically aimed for the ladies. After watching this wonderful story, I will make it a point to read the books. The story introduced us to very moral characters that we came to care about. What a refreshing change from so many of today's movies. No cussing. No sex. Just a wonderful family movie, and I will be purchasing the sequel, "Love's Enduring Promise". The movie is very similar in ways to "Little House on the Prarie". It goes to show that Hollywood doesn't have to make it dirty to make it good. On the contrary, by not corrupting this movie, it's open to a wider audience, and is much more enjoyable.

1-23-05 I viewed this extraordinary movie last night for the first time. I have been unable to find here or online where the film was made. I suspect the northwest because of the wonderful scenery but would love to know for sure. Does anyone know? If so, please send me an e-mail with "Love Comes Softly" in the subject area. Michael Landon Sr. would be so proud of his son for offering this wonderful movie to the public. The scenery was spectacular and the actors perfectly matched for the part they played. I think this would be a wonderful movie to offer to high school students. Hope someone can tell me the location. Be sure and put the title in the subj. area. I don't open mail from screen names I don't know but will if that is listed. e-mail me at: [email protected] Thank you.

I read the book and always thought the story would make a great movie. How wonderful that they did - and that they did not leave God out of the movie.

For those who want to know what happens to Clark and Marty - check out the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke. There are several more books which will take you well into their grandparenting days.

Takes a lot to make this girl with the gift of gab speechless, but this movie did it. Loved the sequel, too. Full of refreshment and inspiration. Dale Midkiff does some of the best acting I've ever seen.

Katherine Heigl and Skye McCole were also excellent. I think I've watched both movies at least five times since I taped them a couple of weeks ago and can't stop replaying the tape - I'm addicted!

This movie woke up the girl inside me that had given up on real-life love stories.

I have just seen this movie on the Hallmark channel and I have to say this is absolutely one of the best movies I have ever seen. It does not get any better then this movie. Dale Midkif, Katherine Heigal and Skye McCole Bartusiak do a terrific job. I forget that I was watching a movie, I was so involved I thought I was in someones life. What a feel good movie no what a wonderful feeling movie. Watch it! You won't be sorry.

This is a good wholesome movie that doesn't have cursing, violence, or bad music.

I haven't seen a "GOOD" movie like this in a LONG time. (Maybe since Little House on the Prairie.)

I couldn't wait to put the next one in.

They had me crying and laughing.

This is an excellent movie from a series of 3 or more.

Why don't they make more movies like this instead of the GARBAGE they make today?

You wonder why people are the way they are THESE days...

People/children LEARN what they SEE.

I HIGHLY recommend this series, it is awesome.

I think that, that was one of the best Christian Movies made! It had some really nice values of life and there was a great message given! The actors chosen were perfect for their parts, I think they did a really good job. Also the scenery was very beautiful. I liked the countryside as a background and they managed to travel us back in those days where people used to plant their crops and take care of their cattle. I honestly recommend this movie to people, it's a great movie. There is also some nice romance in it, so if you like romantic movies you will like this one. Another nice romantic Christian movie i would like to suggest is "A WAlk To remember". Oh yeah and don't forget "Notebook". They are my favorite movies!

I have watched this movie each time it was shown on the Hallmark Channel and think it's a wonderful and inspiring movie. I think Katherine Heigl, Dale Midkiff and Skye McCole Bartusiak were great in their roles. I taped the movie and watch it all the time. I can't wait for the movie to come out on VHS and/or DVD (Preferably DVD). I have read all of Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series and think they are great too.

We need more movies like this one. Thanks to Michael Landon Jr. for directing a film like this one and everyone else involved with it.

Thank You, HALLMARK and FAITH & VALUES MEDIA for making a movie like this and PLEASE put it on VHS and DVD.

I just have to say that there are so few uplifting and and spiritual movies out there and i am so delighted to have found "Love comes Softly". This movie really made me feel so good after i watched it. it was so pleasant to watch a movie with no swearing, sex or violence and one that contained a Christian theme throughout. Being a Christian myself this story completely drew me inside and i have watched it like four times in the week since i have bought it. the actors were wonderful and very believable to watch on screen. Dale Midkiff is such a great actor all you have to do is look in his eyes when he doing a scene, whether it be loving Christian father and husband, or psychotic killer, or Elvis. he is totally believable as any character. he is not bad on the eyes either. i enjoyed the relationship between the two adult characters Clark and Marty, how their relationship blossoms throughout the movie, how their love really does come softly. this movie is definitely worth seeing and i absolutely recommend it.

For the majority of us who have posted re "Love Comes Softly", you'll be happy to know that the sequel "Love's Enduring Promise" is underway. Filming started on March 29th. Dale Midkiff and Kathryn Heigl will reprise their roles as Clark and Marty Davis. Since Missy is older in this book, the wonderful Skye McCole Bartusiak will be replaced by January Jones. The movie is due out in November. Once again, it's directed by Michael Landon Jr. And the DVD/VHS of "LCS" is due in the Fall. More good news: Dale Midkiff won an award (the Grace Prize for television acting) for his portrayal of Clark Davis in "LCS" which also took the Epiphany Prize for Most Inspirational Television Program sponsored by The John Templeton Foundation. The awards were presented on March 24, 2004 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Well deserved!
