Whether or not you remember or like Joyce Grenfell, watching this you have to admire the versatility and artistry of Maureen Lipman, who brings her songs and monologues to life. Whether she's 'led by Mrs Tiverton', remembering chicken bones on the stove, having a first flight, or winning a rabbit in a raffle, this hour and a half in the company of a great actress commemorating another is well worth it.

My favourite bit was the dinner party where Lipman/Grenfell effortlessly portrayed a variety of guests. Just what theatre should be and translates very well to TV. Re-Joyce reminds me of the productions the BBC used to invest in and put on before the lure of cheap comedy and reality shows overtook them.

I have been a great fan of Joyce Grenfell for a long time, and was interested in seeing Maureen Lipman's loving portrait of. Joyce Grenfell. If you are a fan of Maureen Lipman and Joyce Grenfell then you will enjoy this on DVD or Video. She does many of Joyce's monologues with great passion. We all remember the harassed nursery school teacher. 'George don't do that'. I loved 'The Hymn'. There are many favourite Grenfell Monologues to enjoy. I love 'The Hymn' where a churchgoing lady goes to church, and while hymn singing she remembers she had left a pan of chicken bones which had been left cooking on her stove. She is afraid that the house will burn down. Another favourite is Mother Comstock who is on her 'first flight with food' to see her son and daughter in law (who happens to be coloured in Conneticut in the United States, who is talking to a fellow passenger. There is another favourite, 'The worrier'. You will enjoy this loving tribute and will drive you on, to find more of Joyce Grenfell's work. I wish you joy in watching this tribute, I know it has brought me much joy.
