In the seventh installment of Al Lowe's favorite alter-ego, Leisure Suit Larry embarks on a sea cruise where there are more than enough beautiful women for Larry to encounter. His primary objective is to bed the most beautiful trophy on the ship: Captain Thygh. All he has to do to win her favors is to score high in the shipboard contests of bowling, cooking, horseshoes, fashion, craps and sexual prowess. If the gamer is also clever, Larry can find ways to cheat his way to the top of these events. Although the game is filled with blatant innuendo and puns (the likes of Drew Baringmore, Jamie Lee Coitus, Dewmi Moore, Nailmi and Wydoncha Jugg) there is no full frontal nudity (at least close-up) and the sexual encounters are inoffensive. This is a game with more tease than sleaze, as has always been the case with the Larry series. Backgrounds, animations, and sound have all been upgraded, as well as the interface, from icons to pop-up windows. Some may not enjoy a politically incorrect ...

The men that order a martini in the casino represent the actors who portrayed James Bond on film (except George Lazenby): Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan. When the waitress approaches them, the music of Bond films is played in the background.
The clothes at the clothing cabana of the clothing optional pool all belong to famous cartoon stars. Among them are: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Русалочка (1989), Fred and Wilma of The Flintstones (1960), Dumb Donald from Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids (1972) and Кот (2003).
Al Lowe has several cameos in the game: his poster hangs behind Mr. Xqwzts the cabin boy; whenever Larry knocks on Captain Thygh's cabin door before winning the competition, his face shows at the door porthole; he is the leftmost man among the nude people at the clothing optional pool, who can be seen on the background of the screen where Drew is sunbathing; Larry mentions him while talking with Captain Thygh and Drew in futile attempt to impress them.
The people who play nude volleyball at the clothing optional pool are the Archie (1964) Comics gang.
The gamebox contains a "CyberSniff 2000", a sheet of numbered scratch-and-sniff paper, corresponding to a number displayed on the screen at a certain location, so that the player could get a scent of what the area the player was in smelled like.
The American pornographic actor Ron Jeremy can sometimes be seen walking naked at the screen of the poolside changing cabana.
The titles of nine of the books in the library hall ("Leisure Suit Larry Lands A Ho!", etc.) are in fact part of the suggestions for the title of this game, which were eventually rejected in favor of its final title "Love for Sail!".
It is impossible to win fairly in any of the competitions. Larry must cheat in all of them in order to win the game.
After the closing credits, there is a teaser about the upcoming eighth game in the series "Leisure Suit Larry Explores Uranus" (also known by its alternative title "Lust in Space"). However, the production of this game was canceled, much to the disappointment of many fans.
Voice actress Jodi Carlisle was originally cast as Nailmi Judd. During production, she was replaced by Kathy Levin, who is credited on screen. However, Jodi's name still appears in the printed manual's cast list, as the manuals were prepared well before the game was completed.
Peggy was named after the game's lead computer artist, Peggy Skrlec. Due to the character's use of excessive foul language, Peggy's voice actor chose to be uncredited for the role, as she did not want it to affect her status as the voice of Disney's Snow White at the time.
When Peter the purser explains the Thygh's Man Trophy to the passengers, the line "one of you will spend next week cruising on the captain" was an unintentional mistake on the part of voice actor S. Scott Bullock. Al Lowe decided to keep the unscripted goof in the game, after it got a huge laugh from those in the recording studio.
With a total of eleven, Mary Kay Bergman holds the distinction of voicing the most characters in the original Leisure Suit Larry game series. She was credited for nine characters, and chose to go uncredited for two additional characters that were considered risqué.
The character names "Drew Baringmore", "Jamie Lee Coitus", "Dewmi Moore", "Victorian Principles", "Wydoncha Jugg", and "Nailmi Jugg" are adaptations of the names of actresses Drew Barrymore, Jamie Lee Curtis, Demi Moore, Victoria Principal, Wynonna Judd, and Naomi Judd, respectively.
Similarly to most of the previous games, Rod the balloon man is a parody of Ken Williams, the CEO of Sierra On-Line. This is the only game in which the character's name is neither Ken nor derives from it.
Willy the comedian is a parody on the then-president Bill Clinton. Some of the jokes he tells are about Hillary, Chelsea and members of the government.
If you click "look" on "The Erotic Adventures of Hercules" the narrator says "It's the Erotic Adventures of Hercules, soon to be a major motion picture with Troy McClure." Troy McClure was a popular character in Симпсоны (1989).
The sculptor Bob Bitt is based on both artist Bob Ross, including his famous haircut, and John Wayne Bobbitt.
On the left side of the door leading to the employees' break room there is a console with six scanners. If you click "Look" on the Voiceprint Scanner (the top scanner), the narrator asks Larry "How much can you sound like Jan Rabson?" Rabson is the voice of Leisure Suit Larry. If you click "Look" on the DNA Scanner (the bottom scanner), the narrator's description of its function ends with "Do you feel lucky today, O.J.?" - presumably referring to O.J. Simpson.
If you click look on the sexy book near Vicky, the narrator says "It's that sailing masterpiece, A Tale of Two Titties, by Charles Dickin'. This is an obvious pun on 'A Tale of Two Cities' by Charles Dickens.
Occasionally, the shipboard announcer calls out the names of people who've won a Thygh's Man Trophy event, mostly the first names only. All the names called out are of Al Lowe and other people who worked on the game - the same people who appear on the "About" screen and their first names are on the TMT Leader Board.
If you click take while selecting the garbage can in the kitchen, Larry says, "Al Lowe always hides something in the garbage." The narrator replies, "Not this game, Munsil wouldn't let him." Al Lowe is the creator, director and writer of Leisure Suit Larry, and Don Munsil is the assistant designer and writer.
In the hallway to the employees' break room there are ten photos hanging of previous Thygh's Man Trophy winners. They're all celebrities, the most obvious are then-president Bill Clinton and Ken Williams. Among the others are officials of Sierra On-Line and Dynamix Inc.: Walter Forbes, Mike Brochu, Randy Dersham, Jeff Tunnell, Jerry Bowerman and Scott Lynch. When you look at it in the ship's map, all the pictures are of Al Lowe - but only until Larry enters the room.
The game includes mini-game named "Where's Dildo?" - a parody on the book and TV series Where's Waldo? (1991): 32 dildos are partially hidden in the game screens, looking like the series character Wally/Waldo is dressed (red and white striped shirt, bobble hat and glasses). The player must find all 32 in order to activate the eighth Easter Egg.
In addition to the many gags, inside-jokes and visible Easter Eggs, there are eight hidden Easter Eggs in the game, most of these are very difficult to find. When they are found, they trigger nudity scene, and a colored egg-shaped icon flashes in the screen corner. If the player manages to find seven of them, find all 32 Dildos and score the maximum 1,000 points, the eighth Easter Egg is revealed in the end for a short moment, during the teaser of the upcoming game: a nudity scene of Larry and Captain Thygh.
Jamie Lee Coitus tells Larry that her fashion designs were stolen by rival designer Calvin Klone - a parody on the fashion designer Calvin Klein.
The topmost book in the book pile near Victorian the librarian is called "Prudish and Proud" - a pun on Гордость и предубеждение (2005) by Jane Austen.
Similarly to Leisure Suit Larry 5: Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work (1991), Larry cannot die in the game. If he is caught in a dangerous situation (like in the first scene) and the player cannot figure what is the solution, the game gives hints how to save Larry.
The icon interface is significantly different from the previous games in the series and most other Sierra games: instead of the multiple command icons (Walk, Look, Take/Use and Talk), there is only one all-purpose cursor in shape of unused condom (as a part of the adult context of the game), which considerably lengthens when the player passes it over an item/character which can be interacted with, or turns into an arrow pointing a direction to which the player can walk. When the cursor is in interactive mode, a left-click opens a menu of verbs (Look, Talk, Take, etc.), which can be used on the specific object. The menu also enables the player to use any of the items in the inventory on that object. Finally, the "Other" menu option allows the player to type verbs in addition to those offered by the menu, similarly to the text parser which was included in the older games before it was replaced by the icon interface.
When clicking on the "About" in the menu bar, appears a photograph of Larry, Al Lowe and many of the production crew: Jennifer Gibbs, Bill O'Brien, Layne Gifford, Bob Munsil, Don Munsil, Steve Conrad, Mark Seibert, Jason Zayas, Jason Piel, Mark F. Martino, Alberto Eufrasio, Bryan Wilkinson and Ben Houge.
Pressing Ctrl + P reveals the number of points and Dildos which the player scored and found so far. Similarly to Torin's Passage (1995), pressing Ctrl + P again (while the score message is still visible) switches the game to psychedelic mode. This option is an Easter Egg, therefore it does not explicitly appear in the menu bar nor in the game manual.
It is the only game in the series which begins at the point where the previous game ended.
The digit 7 is not part of the official title of the game. However, the artwork on the game-box cover features "7" where the shark's fin touches the black bottom part of the ship.
Shamara is the third woman (after Eve and Kalalau) who seems to be Larry's true love when they first meet and have romantic experience, but dumps him in the beginning of the next game.
Whenever Larry makes it with a woman, her wallpaper image is added to the game directory.
The crazy credits are similar, with slight changes, to the ones of Torin's Passage (1995).
