Prince Lazlo from the European Balkans has chosen Laredo as the site to sign a treaty with a Latin American country. He hopes to experience the frontier life style. After being shot at in Laredo, Parmalee is informed that there has been several attempts on his life while in the United States. Everyone notices that except for a beard and a birth mark the Prince and Chad could be identical twins. Parmalee decides to have Chad take the Prince's place for protection to which the Prince agrees rapidly as he will live as Chad - a Ranger. Chad soon finds the job to his liking as the Prince's betrothed is a beautiful woman who enjoys the attention of Chad whereas the Prince has largely ignored her. Peter Brown gets to play dual roles in this Laredo episode. Ranger Chad Cooper and a the ruler of some Ruritanian Balkan principality who has chosen to use Laredo for his country to sign a cultural exchange treaty with some Latin American country.

Why Laredo, because Prince Brown has always wanted to see the wild west apparently having read the collected works of Ned Buntline. And he gets his chance when someone tries to kill him and Captain Parmalee works out a plan involving exchanging places.

Another episode a bit too much to swallow. The jingoistic USA of the time would never have allowed such a thing to occur. Someone for sure would have mentioned something about the Monroe Doctrine.
