Prince Lazlo from the European Balkans has chosen Laredo as the site to sign a treaty with a Latin American country. He hopes to experience the frontier life style. After being shot at in Laredo, Parmalee is informed that there has been several attempts on his life while in the United States. Everyone notices that except for a beard and a birth mark the Prince and Chad could be identical twins. Parmalee decides to have Chad take the Prince's place for protection to which the Prince agrees rapidly as he will live as Chad - a Ranger. Chad soon finds the job to his liking as the Prince's betrothed is a beautiful woman who enjoys the attention of Chad whereas the Prince has largely ignored her. The people trying to kill the Prince deduce the switch putting the fake Chad in danger finally resulting in his kidnapping. Chad is forced to attend the treaty signing trying to delay the signing but soon runs out of delaying tactics.
