Fellow officers soon learn that Ramirez killed Mob Boss Vince Gallo's brother, in revenge for the death of his partner. Now with a Mob contract on his head, and the police wanting him for murder, Ramirez must navigate the shadows of betrayal between the mob enforcers and the police; in a desperate attempt to stay alive and keep a promise to his dead partner. Every demographic has its fantasy movie, its veritable fairytale. Hipsters have The Big Lebowski. Nerds have Scott Pilgrim vs the World. The Bernie Madoff set even has such an ideal tale in Wall Street.

Silent Sam fulfills a fantasy for a crazily-overlooked contingent of our populace: fat, balding middle-aged guys. And, my, oh my, does it ever hit the mark! Sam Ramirez, true to form is stuck in a living hell. His wife has a terminal illness, which she is only days away from dying from, his partner on the police force is trying to get him to cheat on said wife and, if that wasn't enough, there are a lot of stone cold criminals who would enjoy nothing more than to give him a pair of cement shoes and take him swimming in the Hudson. The criminals get one step closer realizing the cement shoes for Sam when they kill his partner and he begins massacring the mobsters in a bloody rage. Needless to say, lots of people die.

The movie is very violent and forward in its storyline. If you are the type of person that just loves these Bruce Willis type of movies you may not be very impressed with Silent Sam. In Silent Sam the fights don't take 20 minutes, There are no slow motion shots of bullets passing by - the first shot usually hits the target, and the gun is empty after nine rounds have been fired. The Hero is not superman and can be killed- there is danger. However, there is no happy ending - I think that this kind of reality is really refreshing; all movies should be like this.

Is there a negative side to Silent Sam? Of course there is: The super low budget, and below average CGI. This sometimes takes away from the nuances of the plot. Still it is a good movie to watch, you won't regret doing so.

I liked this movie! For a straight to DVD low budget indie film, the acting is OK and the story line has some compelling aspects worth looking into. I wasn't quite sure how to take it at the beginning. It took about ten minutes for the action to start, but after that- I was hooked. If you're expecting the Hollywood hundred million dollar production then this movie is not for you. The production values were low, and the CGI very rough: but if you enter into it without the super big budget frame of mind, and see for it for what it is - some friends and some junk food - it's enjoyable! A good film for the low budget DVD renter.

Whether you like it or not, Silent Sam is certainly an unconventional low budget 'B' movie action film.

Sam Ramirez is a very emotionally repressed cop who doesn't talk much. However, he is capable of great bursts of calm unemotional violence which makes him a dangerous man to tangle with.

During a routine stakeout, he leaves his partner alone - while he checks on his terminally ill wife. In the interim, his partner tries to makes the bust on her own. It goes bad!

Sam arrives just in time to kill everyone in sight and make a promise to his partner; just before she dies in his arms. The guilt this unleashes in Sam only increases his sense of responsibility. Absconding with the drug money form the bust, Ramirez decides to make his wife's last days – happy ones.

There is an immense magnetizing sadness to this characters life, which makes you want to keep watching.

Production values are low, but the action and story carries you through.

Sometimes reviewers get so caught up in their own little vision of what entertainment ought to be that they can't loosen up and just enjoy a movie for what it is.

Case in point is SILENT SAM a fine movie. Richard Collier as Sam Ramirez is well suited as the silent hero type - a kind of early Chuck Norris - a one-man army dishing out justice where justice is due. Some of the character actors are great as well, David Ian Matheson as the borderline by the book Detective, he gives you a sense of mixed loyalties- friendship or the law. Neal Layden as Paulie the snitch - a greasy no morals guy- gives you the creeps just looking at him: and manages to create a genuine (and a bit unsettling) hatred for Ramirez. There are several plot threads, all interesting. The film is never too complicated to lose focus.

It is flawed only by the low budget and an awful bit of CGI car chase stuff in the middle of the film. Recutting to eliminate this crap would produce an even higher end Action thriller.

Is "Silent Sam" a little cheesy? Perhaps. Are the characters deep and the production values high? No.

But nobody ever claimed that this movie was going to win awards. Producers just wanted to give their intended audience a good time, and in that task, they succeeded.

And besides, who doesn't want to see Drug Dealers, Mob guys and the occasional bad Cop get what's coming to them?

The movie is good for what it is, a low to no budget film. It is along the lines of "El Meriachi" by Robert Rodriguez, his first feature that was later made into a Hollywood blockbuster with Antonio Banderas. Lots of action and some nudity. Perfect for those that like those type of films. If you are looking for high end Hollywood action then you will not like this movie. It gives actors that are not well known a chance to be known for some good work.. For that I recommend it then. I would give it a chance as the story is one that drags you in after the first five minutes. As for the special effects, they are good and the car chases are what low to no budgets get. The fight scenes are great too. Enjoy the movie as I did.

Sam Ramirez (Richard Collier) is a middle aged balding detective who can easily overpower men who are younger, larger, and armed. His wife (Kimberley Curran) is dying and has a last wish of drinking hot chocolate by the lake...it is winter, in most scenes. Sam is on a stakeout that goes bad. His partner gets killed, and Sam kills the brother of a crime boss. Sam takes a suitcase full of money too. There is a price on his head as he attempts to take his wife to the lake.

The cinematography looked like a 1980's direct to VHS film. The scenes changed from snow everywhere on the ground to no snow and bird's chirping. If you think the gun fire looked faked wait until to get the Nintendo style driving graphics. It was just so funny. The chase scene was incredibly faked. The film was so bad, I liked it.

Guide: F-word, nudity (Claudia Wit, Dunja Damjanovic, Ester Li, Alicia Savage) Available on multi-packs.

This spoof is brilliant entertainment .

Bloody funny, the lead actor has a painted on hair piece, every woman loves him, even if he makes a lot of really bad choices for a really nice guy , sic,

All of the characters are hilarious parodies of the crime genre. The cops , the bad guys , the hit men, the babes, all played by nobody wannabe actors, or maybe their not wannabe anything, but are just having fun.

The wife of silent Sam of course is dying whilst all the mayhem is going on, but still manages to be with Sam on his exploits through to the end, so bizarre , but hilarious...

The car chases are brilliant,, defiantly stolen from the Thunderbirds...

This is not a movie to be taken seriously, it's a comedy, laugh and enjoy it for what it is. Sure it's cheap, but good on everyone who took part, as its great to see people having a go. And it's cool to be silly...

Hey this could be the start of a whole new genre, as long as they keep their humor . All in all a really good laugh, something different, but i am sure its not for everyone..... Xxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx

The story behind this movie contains certainly interesting aspects worth developing, but as soon as the bad guy starts fondling the breasts of a lady-cop and giving her el-shocks, with a lousy snitch watching her, you know this is horror for teenagers and it will be bad movie. The car chases are unbelievably fake and simply PC-racing stuff while Sam is on a killing spree. B-film? No C- or D-film with lousy acting, predictable lines and cliché-characters. Not worth giving a minute or your time. That is if you do not like this kind of stuff, a cafeteria catering you violence and simplistic lust with no brain and interesting people attached to the story.

There really needs to be a way to put negative stars on these low budget turds. The "good" reviews are obviously being put up by people involved in the production of the "film". This "film" is so bad it doesn't even deserve a 1 star vote. This waste of time and money appears to have been written and shot by a bunch of drunk frat boys in the span of an afternoon. Cartoon blood added later courtesy of free rendering software downloaded from the wifi connection on a laptop at the local McDonald's. This movie is so bad, please don't even waste the time to finish reading any reviews about it. I wouldn't recommend watching it unless you are the college professor who has to grade it, and if you are he....I feel sorry for you. How anyone would waste their time filming such garbage is beyond my comprehension. This movie isn't even worth watching to make fun of it, and the people who shot it. Every copy should be rounded up, loaded onto a rocket and shot into the sun so that every trace of its existence can be wiped from the face of the earth. I'm embarrassed to even be of the same species as the person who thought someone would want to see this. I watched the first 20 minutes and I think I have suffered permanent brain damage from it. Its impossible to put into words how truly horrible this "movie" is. I would rather watch colonoscopy video than this thing. This thing is UGLY. Just reading the reviews makes me want to punch the director in the face. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

...but it isn't. Its actually a fairly serious attempt at filmmaking.

This 'movie' was passed on to me by a friend who has a friend who is an aspiring actor and was one of the leads. Hopefully, he takes some classes and never mentions to anyone that he appeared in this film. YIKES. I am also considering de-friending said friend for passing this on to me.

Silent Sam is a sad, desperate, pathetic attempt to make a film on little money in hopes of some sort of DVD release. Unfortunately, they had a VERY amateur cast (honestly, its hard to concentrate on the 'story' when you spend most of the time cringing and/or feeling sorry for the performers. I have to assume none of them were paid)an inexperienced crew and little or no money for effects. It says the budget for the film is $300,000. I would love to know where that went. Seriously. Somebody tell me.

Silent Sam proves that literally anybody can make a movie. But should they be allowed? If you are feeling suicidal, this is not recommended viewing.
