"The chosen" is an episode with excellent writing.This is the first time i am reviewing an episode.The characters Jaha,Clarke,Octavia transformations throughout the season is well.Whenever I am thinking the episode is going down ,they are coming with a bang.The episode ended excellently.Can't wait for the next episode.This show is the best apocalyptic survival show ever and it is most underrated.

//WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD//

I loved this episode a lot. All the characters are facing very hard dilemmas and struggling to make a decision. But the choices they make and the last immoral action they have to do was quite unexpected.

Really good ending. And kudos for picking this great song "Through the eyes of a child" by Aurora.

This episode felt like it was setting up for the season finale, as the race to save Raven begins with our heroins being ambushed by grounders, who intend to take there suits to survive. Just when you think that hope is lost, Echo comes racing. Say what you will about her, but you gotta admit she's a survivor. Perhaps the highlight of the episode was Kane's decision to gas his people. You can tell that it wasn't an easy choice. I like the idea for the season finale, not every show can come full circle after four seasons. I have high hopes for the future of this show, suffice to say, it's gonna be hard to topple this season. Five years in space is going to be a challenge, to say the least. Than again, they were born there. After the hell they went through on the ground, Space is gonna be serene(yeah right). Also, they might wanna give the bunker a heads up before going along with this, I mean there spots were reserved. So you might want to bring back some of the people they threw out. Preferably before they wake up.

I don't think it would be feedback if I didn't point out a flaw. In this case, it's Abby. She seems suicidal. I mean yes, she want's to clear a spot for someone else and that's noble. But she's a doctor. Who's more valuable than that? Doesn't she know that she would be a major asset if she stayed. It just seemed out of character.

Well, this was a really surprisingly episode. I like the way that everyone is trying to save humanity and like Clarke says: there's no correct way. We have so many interpretations from all the characters that it is easy to love some of them (for me Bellamy and Kane were my favorites of the episode, alongside Octavia) or hate them (in my opinion, Jaha was very hateful, but he had A good point too, like the others), but you can take one side of all we have and there's something that I really love for the show, the way they show that everyone is gray, not just black and white. The end was a complete shock, I've been expected so many ways to Skaikru get rid of the black rain, but I never expected that the young ones will return to the ark, so it's an interesting point for the season finale.

+ The balance with the characters.

+ Nate's dad and Abby's wish.

+ Jaha becoming aware.

+ The end.

+ Octavia's move as a grounder.

  • Was quite slow, though.

Again, with a difficult decision. Only 100 (again) can survive from Skaikru. The rest will have to give up the bunker and wait for death outside. But giving up what they believed was theirs will not be easy. However Octavia and the Grounders will not give them any other option. Or will they have?

What could have been an uneven episode, as the plot is again about choosing 100 survivors, is turned upside down by clever plot twists and great use of the characters. Kane or Jaha have their time to shine and we get to enjoy their character's development and understand the decisions they take. The episode does a great use of the set up and raises the tension slowly to a surprising ending. Sometimes it is all a little bit in-your-face, subtlety be damned, but in general, the dealing of the moral dilemmas and subjects of "The 100" is done in a great manner. The choices taken make sense and the ideas presented quite interesting.

And "The Chosen" leaves the door open for a great finale for season 4. A season that developed in the first episodes in fits and starts has reached its peak in the best possibly way.

As I prepared for Season 5, I watched the entire series again and I'm really glad that I did. I have enjoyed the series even more than the first time around because I really paid attention to each episode and I'm more impressed than ever that we have a science fiction show of this quality. Yes, it does have it's weak points and errors, but it's written in such a way that we are able to get to know the characters and rather we're cheering or booing for individuals, we have some actual emotion for these characters and the talented people who portray them.

Having said how very; much I've enjoyed this series didn't stop me from noticing that this particular episode, even with high drama/emotion, some good fights and very poignant moments, seemed to drag by because of certain scenes. Overall, this episode was exciting and really held my attention, but it seemed that some of the slower areas were really unnecessary. These long debates about how could I have done better, been a better person, killed fewer people, made everyone love me, etc., etc. are real attention killers when the show has moved on from the problem under discussion. It seems unnecessary and unrealistic for the self-doubt to be so emphasized. Many of the characters are responsible and caring leaders - yes, there are bad decisions made, regretted, talked to death, and then FINALLY moved on from. There is generally enough discussion when decisions are being made, that the rehash could be dialed back significantly. All these characters have enough going on in their lives that it seems wasteful to go over decisions that can't be changed now and have already been viewed and talked about from every angle.

But, all the horror, monster, science fiction, alien invasion type shows that I enjoy have their own weak areas, but The 100 shows enough strengths to keep me happy. And, I do appreciate it when they dial back the close-up reveal of intimate relationships. That is NOT why I watch such shows as this and it makes me think twice (or more) before suggesting that a young teen should watch this show. Save it for the romance stories or porn, it's not needed in this series.
