'Landscapes of Desire' is a loving exploration of the female body as a world of its own with its own geography. To the narration of Marc Jamole's poem of the same name, images of the body unfold without background or context - truly a world of its own. The three sections of the film create three landscapes: of eyes, of torso and of hair. The film imagery extends the language of the poem, but also transforms the sensuality of the poem's metaphors into erotic explicitness. On one level, the narration represents an abstract ideal and the images represent the real world. The final shots of the film jolt viewers into a realization that the real and the ideal are in fact one and the same.
