Taka, a Homo-sapiens goes into the adulthood ritual where she has to kill ancient hyenas. Hrkor, the chief of the Homo-sapiens tribe begins the ritual and at the end of the ritual gives Taka his knife. Tka searches the forest for hyenas and finds their lair. She manages to lure a hyena into a trap. Taka is about to begin the killing ritual but the fear in hyena's eyes makes her hesitate. Hyena attacks her and Taka kills the hyena. Doing that she meets the requirements needed to become an adult member of the tribe but her conscience paid a hefty price. Hyena was not just a regular kill.
