Paul fears to be reassigned as Jane resolves to tell Grayson about him, yet ends up resigning to her happiness. Owen grants Grayson a shot at the last hurdle to becoming eligible as firm partner: a major criminal case, but proves gruesomely critical. First he can't prepare properly because the police lies to delay his access to Drew Prescott, who is meanwhile tricked to confess by more lies. When Grayson finds during the trial that Drew is a murderer, but refuses in conscience to invoke poisoned tree, Owen forces him first to resign the case, then testify under subpoena so Drew still gets off, which the victim's father can't handle. Jane gets Kim to plead again by asking her as co-chair in the case of transgender private high-school 'boy' pupil Sam(antha) Simbler, whose parentally supported refusal to switch to the girls loo starts a butter battle of litigation coups as the board chairman also turns on the principal.
