Going, Going, Gone is a song by Bob Dylan, from his Planet Waves album. (Also performed on his Live at Budokan album.)

First appearances of Jo Wilson, Stephanie Edwards, Shane Ross and Leah Murphy.

As the seasons have passed, we have found that childhood friends, Derek and Mark, were 2 years apart, Derek being 2 years older.

Steven Culp's character is a cardiovascular surgeon. His character in Desperate Housewives, Rex Van De Kamp, died of a heart attack.

The first song heard is "Portions For Foxes". It is also played at the beginning of the series. Like in the pilot, when Meredith starts her first day as an intern, this is the first day for the new interns.

I do not like Avery's hair.

I liked the similarities between this episode and the first season, the fact that Meredith has a nickname, the intern appy which makes you recall George etc.

Also the airport symmetry with one of the last episodes of last season when they are all at the airport going to their interviews.

I like the new interns mainly because of Smash (Friday Night Lights) and Mac (Veronica Mars). I think I'll be looking forward to finding out their stories.

I loved the Alex/Meredith moments and the Meredith/Cristina iPad moments.

I really didn't miss April not having a huge role in this episode but I was wondering whether they were going to address her absence anytime soon and they did and she'll be coming back. Not too excited at that.

I have never been a huge Mark fan (he's definitely grown on me over the years but he's never been at the top of the fave list) so I wasn't devastated to hear that they were killing him off (shocked and a bit disturbed by the sheer numbers of cast members leaving, yes) and I thought this was probably as perfect a goodbye as you could get after all I totally agree with what Shonda said that there was no alternative as he would never be able to get over Lexie so no character development and he would never leave Sofia. They really wrote themselves in the corner with that one because if Shonda wanted to keep Mark on the show, he should never have been on the plane but at the same time she knew she was going to kill Lexie off and wanted to give Mark/Lexie a final moment.

On the downside this episode completely overshadowed Lexie's death which makes me sad. I presume they will probably explore that with Meredith / Meredith's Dad at some point in the near future but there needed to be ~more~ of her presence in this episode.

Anyway, the whole focus on Mark meant that I was 75% sure that Arizona wasn't dead even though they made it like she was. Also, no way would Callie have been as in control as she was if both Mark and Arizona were dead/dying. I rolled my eyes at the amputated leg reveal because that's so soapish (Shane West in ER?) but I have to admit I prefer that to the alternative of losing one of my favourite characters for good and I suppose there will be interesting character drama stemming from it.

I MISS TEDDY! I just need to get that out there because it was like she never existed on the show. I am even sadder that she left now as there could have been so awesome Teddy/Arizona friendship.

Oke, there is something I don't understand. Why letting go of so many great characters?? Apparently, losing 1 main character wasn't enough so they let Mark die too and now Arizona who's probably can't work again and don't forget Teddy. God Why on earth are they letting go of like 4 main characters?!! I'm still watching because I've watched this show since the beginning. Can't stop now (I know I can but I don't know yet).

All the new interns or how you call it.. Don't like it. I'm sorry but I don't know if I'm gonna watch this till it stops. Very sad because it's my favorite TV show :(

I really love this episode. It's so interesting to see what happens to everyone after the plane crash, to see how they've changed.

In this episode, months after the plane crash, everyone is adjusting to their new lives and trying to find a sense of normalcy. New interns are at the hospital and everyone now has to take charge of another set of baby doctors. Meaning, young doctors, not doctors who work on babies. Anyway, Christina adjusts to her new life in Minnesota. Callie and Derek come to terms with the fact that Mark probably will never wake up from his coma. And Arizona gets used to life without a leg, since it had to be amputated.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

In the season finale of last season we saw Lexie die, Teddy fired and some doctors (Meredith, Christina, Mark, Derek and Ariona) left in the wild after the plane had crashed in the middle of no where so now we will find what happened next. Meredith seems to have become her mother mean and is not liked by the people she leads. Dr. Yang is in Minnesota not even talking to Grey which has probably made her more cruel. Derek's hand is still recovering, once again everyone is having sex in the hospital. Derek is going back into surgery with Callie. We then see our first sight of Mark as he is in a coma after the events of the finale effecting everyone. Flashback and we see Mark helping Derek get ready for his wedding, also Mark and Callie making an almost sex tape. Meredith finds out she is called Medusa. Back to Yang and she is not fitting in well to her new hospital so she rings to tell Meredith she will be late. Callie meets the new person in charge of Peds and it does not go well with her because I guess that her wife must have passed away, not the best time in her life. In 2010 and another look at Mark doing surgery. Another flashback and this is the most effecting as if is sad especially since Mark himself and two other characters have died. Derek's hand went numb and that's not good. But it's almost five o'clock which is the time when they have to let Mark go which will be sad as many many characters have died in not that much time of the show. They let Mark go and I feel like crying as you never like to let characters die even on a show like this. As the numbers go down Mark dies. Meredith then reflects on how they could have saved him when they were back in the woods all alone. I did not know that they were in the woods for about a week and that surprised me that any of them actually lived. Miranda finds out about her new nickname which has to do with her activities with her fellow workers, she learns her name is BCB which stands for Booty Call Bailey. Many hours later Mark finally slips away with what seems like his closest friends still around him in Derek and Callie. Just when Meredith seems OK she asks to get off the plane. At the end it's April working at her farm and she is invited back to work again. I guess I was wrong about Arizona who may not be dead but only has one leg thanks to her wife. Nice return very sad and also it seems the body count of main characters has been very high lately. Ellen Pompao seems to be acting just like Kate Burton would have as her mother.

EPISOD GRADE: B+ (MVP: Ellen Pompao)

Yes I'm scoring it highly because it evokes emotions in me I didn't want to feel but loved that it did so!

The synopsis on this episode says in part, "But the life of one doctor hangs in the balance and it's clear that Seattle Grace Mercy West is not the same." One wonders if this should applied to one of the writers of this show--Shonda Rhimes. She puts me in mind of so many of the great groups billed as "one hit wonders". She put together a fairly good premise for a show and several good episodes but appears to be out of good ideas. Her only method of creating suspense appears to be the killing off of characters. Before long she may have to change the name of the show because she will probably kill off the title character as that has degraded into her only apparent method to stage some sort of drama for the show. Sad that one who could come up with such a good premise is devoid of ideas for generating suspense. With any luck the next one she will kill off will be herself and then maybe we can get some fresh plots.
