Shou xing xin ren lei (2000) Online

Nerdy office worker Min (Samuel Leung) gets his kicks taking sneaky snaps of his female co-workers, spying on his neighbours having rough sex, and coating himself in oil before bashing one out to internet porn; things change, however, when he mixes ingredients from his late grandfather's medicine shop to create the ultimate aphrodisiac/date-rape drug, which he uses to satisfy both his sexual urges and his desire for revenge on office bullies Winnie and Peter.

Naked Poison might not be as mean-spirited or as gory as some better-known Cat III classics, but it sure is sexy as hell, featuring a fine selection of top-quality Asian crumpet all gagging for a shagging: there's the sexy wife of Min's cruel neighbour, who goes gaga for the skinny runt after he spikes her soup; horny bitch Winnie (Sophie Ngan), who is screwing the boss for cash, but who does Min for free when he slips her his potion; and Ling (Gwennie Tam), the stunning babe who Min somehow gets to have sex with him WITHOUT the use of his wonder drug!!!

Towards the end of the film, director Man Kei Chin turns up the WTF factor slightly, with Min going psycho on Ling after she discovers his secret stash of up-skirt photos, and revealing that he has kept one of his victims chained up under his bed for emergencies; Min's granny also proves to be every bit as mad as her grandson (but is given a fatal bite by a rubber tarantula), and there's the introduction of a cop who is very camp for no other reason than to provide a few giggles.

While Naked Poison isn't all that exceptional as Cat III fare goes, it passes the time nicely enough, and earns itself a very reasonable rating of 7/10 just for giving us the gorgeous Gwennie Tam in the altogether.

It's not really a murder mystery so I don't think I'm giving away anything here. As others have pointed out, this is a softcore murder/suspense thriller Hong Kong style. A way too skinny and geeky looking kid spends his days as a voyeur who takes a hands on approach to helping himself. His grandparents run a traditional medicine shop. The grandpa dies leaving the young man with powerful potions that give him powers over men and women.

Of course, with great power comes great corruption and great abuse of that power. So naturally he uses this to blackmail his bosses, gets his way with women who've scorned him before and somehow along the way, gets a beautiful girl to fall for him (minus the love potion).

What this means is lots of scenes with beautiful bodies, naked and writhing with this skinny twerp who's gotta rank as one of the luckiest actors in Hong Kong cinema history.

7/10 for the beautiful naked women. -3 for forcing me to watch that geeky guy.

As far as Cat III films go I thought this one was pretty tame. It's quite entertaining and the plot is original but for anyone who is familiar with the Cat III genre, they will probably question what in the film warranted the top classification.

The basic story is a young man's grandpa is some sort of doctor/scientist who makes his own crazy medicines. The young man (sorry I can never remember Asian names) gets access to the medicines and uses them to poison & blackmail his boss for an antidote and have his wicked way with girls. Whilst the plot might sound quite sinister and worthy of a Cat III film, there is no gore whatsoever and the scenes of supposed rape don't look or feel harrowing and won't disturb you as scenes of that nature normally do.

It felt more like a soft porn film with a decent plot and storyline and even an attempt of a small twist at the end. A decent enough film to watch, in conclusion, but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it especially if you're expecting to get another slice of the usual shocking and disturbing Cat III action. This one didn't deliver on that front - not for me anyway.

Most frustrating of all for the lads out there was that we have to wait until the end of the film for the sex scene with the cutest girl in the cast, only to find out that she's the only female character in the entire film who's breasts you don't get a good look at! Typical!
