iCarly iMake Sam Girlier (2007–2012) Online

I agree that this is well done but overused story plot in comedy.

To me, Sam really doesn't need a make over. She looks great as is. It is her tomboy ways that needed fixing which didn't matter in the end of the episode. That's goes to show, "Be Yourself". That certain person will like you for who are and not what you're trying to be.

In a earlier episode... they were mocking the teen movie that seems to be made nowadays. If look what the character of Sam what she wears. It is simple but girlie... I would think it was the first time we saw Sam truly looking like a lady.

For Season Two, iCarly had two episodes that were excessively hyped but left something to be desired; "iMeet Fred" and "iLook Alike." However while the show recovered with the episode "iWant My Website Back," which preceded this one, 'iMake Sam Girlier," out did even the best episodes from late Season One.

At the end of another iCarly web-cast, Carly, throws a surprise birthday party for Sam, and invites her friends to join in. Here, the cast holds a Friar's Club-style celebrity roast to her, which makes her feel self-conscious about her rough-and-tumble behavior, especially in front of a boy she likes(played by Graham Patrick Martin). At school she finally reveals that she needs help from Carly with becoming a girly-girl in the hopes of becoming his girlfriend. All this could not come at a worse time, as Ridgeway Jr.-Sr. High is being terrorized by a bullying girl named Jocelyn(Cynthia Dallas), and her hench-girls, and the faculty at school can barley do anything to stop them.

One thing for sure Carly(actually the make-up department at Schneider's Bakery, but why get technical?) really did a good job on Sam. She doesn't make Freddie change his affection for Carly over to Sam, but who cares? And despite a few of her usual traits showing up, she seems to be willing to allow her "inner daffodil" to blossom. Ah, but the threat of Jocelyn's gang still looms, and once it goes outside the school grounds to the Groovy Smoothie, Sam can barley keep herself from going back to her old ways. But Carly insists otherwise, convinced that she'll ruin her chances with Pete. Which will the co-host of iCarly choose -- personal safety through her usual violence or "daffodility?" Then again, you realize this is Sam.

Perhaps it's an exaggeration to say that this episode challenges the traditional role of women. This has been done to death, and Nickelodeon has never been known for maintaining traditional social norms. While some fans seemed to be concerned this would be a carbon copy of TV-episodes like Hannah Montana's "You Are So Sue-able To Me," those fears were put to rest on the night of April 11, 2009. This episode is better than all "makeover the geek/tomboy" episodes of it's kind, and should rate within the top 10 iCarly episodes, if such a rating system were established. It is well-worth the high ratings it received.
