For casting Laila's role, director Rifqi Assaf went to Damascus and back in one day back in 2010, to meet and audition Syrian actress Fatina Laila, he decided she got the role once he saw her face on the side screen of his handy camera.
For writing the Lebanese character Sami, played by Mazen Moadam, director Rifqi Assaf, went and stayed in Beirut - Lebanon for a week, just to feel the vibes and imagery the character was raised around and came from.
