Blacknight
I enjoyed this movie. The only reason I didn't give it a "10" was because it's a story line that has been done often. Nonetheless, it's a cute, almost for all the family (some sex scenes) type movie. The main character has an opportunity to see what life would have been like if she had followed a different path in life, similar to the movie "Mr. Destiny" & "Family Man", except the main character is a woman. This is an Australian movie, and has subtle, enjoyable differences from the usual light-weight films we see coming out of Hollywood. One example is that many of the characters look ordinary. The movie is cute, easy & light.

I have no idea why there is "gay interest" listed. I admit that I haven't seen the movie lately, but I can't for the life of me remember anything "gay" about it. I enjoy lots of movies with gay themes and characters, but for others checking out this movie, the "gay interest" might prevent a family or others from seeing a great movie. The story is a little predictable, but the freshness of the actors and the Australian production values makes it interesting. The reason I registered and wrote this review is that I've been thinking about it lately and would like to see it again. Definitely worth seeing again. A great date movie with your wife or husband, I think.

In this Australian/French co-production directed and written by Pip Karmel, Rachel Griffiths (6 Feet Under) excels as a 30 something single journalist with a string of disastrous brief relationships, who after hilariously attempting suicide numerous ways finds herself in an alternate life where she married to her schooldays sweetheart (David Roberts) and has three children. The movie shows how she learns to cope with her new life; it's a bit like Sliding Doors, but Griffiths is much better than Paltrow. The pressures of suddenly being a mother to difficult children is handled with comic timing by Griffiths, and a beau from her former life (Sandy Winton) adds complications when she has to work out whether she prefers him or her 'new' husband. Tightly directed, with great energy, it's a fine movie.
