Sometimes a documentary can loose it's focus and I think the reason why this happens is because the people making the documentary are not interested in the person or the subject but "nothing to something" is the opposite and this demonstrates how to make a documentary people want to watch.

The subject is the professional fashion photographer Keith Major documenting his day to day life of organising and consent prepping to enable him to work. I feel the film captures his work environment very well and gives a good insight into the behind the scenes of the fashion world it's a much watch film for anyone wanting to pursue this as a possible career.

There are learning lessons and solid advise from Keith Major that could be applied to anyone hoping to create any career including a dedication to your passion by not loosing focus on what you want to become, he points out that he never took any job that didn't have a photography link just to pay the bills, it brave but the moral of the story is you have nothing to loose!

I enjoyed this short film and look forward to the directors next project.

If you are directing a documentary about a fashion photographer you better bring your A Game and have some awesome shots and creative camera work. In "Nothing To Something" director Michael Artiles does just that. There are some really great shots that could be photographs themselves.

This short documentary follows fashion photographer Keith Major behind the scenes on a photo shoot. Major also talks about his beginnings and how he came to the fashion industry. One of his statements that resounded with me the most is when he was talking about the early years of his career.

He was talking about how, starting out, he didn't have a lot of equipment but, he said, he never let his lack of having the best or newest equipment hold him back. He never used that as an excuse. He found a way to make what he had work. He found a way out of no way.

While I am certainly not a big fan of the fashion industry this documentary held my attention and had me reflecting on my own life and career. And it did the one thing that any good short film should do: it made me want more. I wanted to delve deeper into Keith Major's life and creative process. I wanted two more hours.

Michael Artiles does a superb job with this film and it is something I will watch again and again whenever I need some inspiration. Highly recommended.

"Nothing to Something" is a 12-minute short film about photographer Keith Major. He may be an interesting personality, but to me this was not an impressive short movie. The writer and director is Michael Artiles and he is not really known for other works either. I think the whole world of fashion photography is a place of vanity, so it is not particularly convincing if we get an allegedly emotional insight into Major's work. I did not care for the character or the other people in this movie. It may be a decent watch for people who enjoy his photography, but I must say I wasn't familiar with him at all and this may have played a crucial role as well. All in all, a very forgettable watch. Not recommended.
