The concept of the film makes it obvious it shouldn't be taken seriously and once that is realized it's actually a fun entertaining film. The acting was pretty good from everyone and the film's lead Reid Miller (Play by Play, A Girl Named Jo) carries the film nicely.

The emotional moments of the film came off as genuine and there's definitely some laugh out loud moments. I actually wouldn't mind a sequel to it (as long as it doesn't go on too long like the Sharknado films) and i'll definitely be adding it to my playlist of Christmas movies this year as well.

If you like cheesy but entertaining movies definitely check this one out!

"Santa Jaws" sounds preposterous, and it is.

But it's also exactly what it needs to be.

The director (Misty Talley) was able to keep this together pretty well instead of sending it straight off the rails, and managed to include the appropriate camp-to-family ratio that makes Christmas movies work. The script was creative. Some of the casting was excellent (Ritchie Montgomery, Haviland Stillwell, Hawn Tran all did great character work here). The result was a movie that is every bit as family-friendly as "The Meg" aspired to be without losing any of the qualities that make the best of the Sy-Fy shark movies work.

Yes, it's still a "bad shark movie". It's as ludicrous as the title suggests, but it still managed to be a really good, really fun "bad shark movie".

7.5/10. Bravo!

Best shark Christmas movie yet! The shark wears a Christmas Hat... Nuff said.

It's a fun campy movie that too many people take too serious! If you watch it for the fun that it is, you will enjoy it as the characters are stereotypical of what you expect as well as being well directed. I look to more movies by this intriguing director, Misty Talley.

In my opinion, this is the greatest film of the decade, and possibly, of all time.

Incredible acting. Characters you can relate to. Highly believable storyline. (The shark wears a Santa hat on his dorsal fin... sooo cute!)

I can't wait to watch this again! And maybe even every day, for the rest of my life. 10/10

Pretty darn good fun! We laughed and laughed! In the list of shark-themed movies we've watched lately, this is high on the list. Also it's been added to our fun Christmas movies like the original Die Hard.

Oscar worthy, and has restored my faith in the baby shark jesus.

When I first heard the title I laughed so hard and hoped for so much and wondered how this would play out. Now that I've watched it, BRAVO. Yes it's campy and not just campy but full on CAMPY and they ran with it with gusto. Of course there isn't much of a serious plot. You are not meant to watch this kind of movie thinking it will change your world. You are meant to watch it and thrill in all it's glory. And glory indeed. I loved so much about this and can't wait to watch it again and the candy cane? Uh hello, brilliant. Won't say more so it doesn't spoil anything but just brilliant. This will not only be a great shark movie to watch all year but it now makes it's way to the Christmas Horror checklist for every holiday.

Well, SyFy did it! This is a holiday themed movie that is worthy of watching quite a few times. How often do you get to see a shark wearing a Santa hat on its fin? Cody (Reid Miller) and his best friend Steve (Hawn Tran) are a couple of teenage comic book freaks that have created a new comic, Santa Jaws, just in time for the holidays. Cody isn't really in the spirit of Christmas with all the family hoopla and would rather be alone. He gets his wish by getting grounded. Cody makes a few additions to his new comic with a pen given to him for Christmas by his grandfather. The mystical pen brings Santa Jaws to life and the shark goes into a killing frenzy. The shark is not necessarily a merciless killer, but is attracted to Christmas and anything associated with the holiday...like music and decorations!

SANTA JAWS is directed by Misty Talley, who also directed OZARK SHARKS and MISSISSIPPI RIVER SHARKS. I personally give this movie more merit than those SHARKNADO films. Obviously not a lot spent on sets, special effects or script; but the acting is pretty decent, although at times a bit silly. Also featured in the cast: Courtney Lauren Cummings, Jim Klock, Carrie Lazar, Ritchie Montgomery, Haviland Stillwell, and Scott Allen Perry.

This is the Christmas movie Hallmark wishes they made! It was one of the best movies of any type to come around in ages. Now that Sharknado has been retired maybe this can become the next franchise movie on Syfy.

A hilarious and well-done movie. Acting is on point, full of action and emotion. Will definitely watch this with my family every Christmas.

Santa Jaws turned out to be one of the better Grade B movies! It had so much story and scenes and fun that I was looking forward to. I cannot wait till I get to see it around again soon. I may have to splurge and get a copy! It was relatively predictable and fun but had several unique twists to this fun movie and not only did it hold my interest but it was very entertaining!

Good message and amazing storyline! Was one of the better extended shark universe movies.

Since there are a million shark movies out there with similar plots and differing number of shark heads, this one was a nice change of pace. It was campy of course but the acting was pretty good, and the plot actually made a bit of sense (how the shark came into existence, what attracted it, what would hurt it, etc). I've watched it a couple of times....good...especially for the overused shark premise.

If you watch this movie for the fun that it is you will enjoy it! I promise. The casting is great! Props to the actors for making these characters believeable. A lot of quote-able lines! It's a movie that everyone can enjoy.

Best SYFY TV movie so far!

This ridiculous action horror/comedy for the tween set makes the "Sharknado" movies look like Oscar winners. Why are there so many positive reviews for this Jingle Bells trash?

This might have worked as some skit on SNL for 5 minutes every Christmas, or as an episode of "South Park" poking fun at terrible shark and Christmas movies simultaneously.

But good lord this was stupid. And it tried to take this incredibly stupid concept absolutely seriously. And the CGI... it's a SyFy original, you all know what to expect. And you will not be mistaken. There was also very little of it. There was very little... anything. I don't think the creators had either the budget or creativity to do anything even amusing with their one-note concept.

Two stars are for the actors, who tried their very best through one of the dumbest ideas in cinematic history. I think several of them deserve a shot in something better-made. And one is for the primary camera work which at least looks modestly well-done.

Upset about his home life, a troubled teen decides to take out his frustrations with his comic book series only to realize that the magical pen he received as a gift turned the titular shark creation into a ravenous real-world killing machine and must band his friends together to stop it.

Overall, this one wasn't anywhere near as bad as it could've been. One of the stronger features here is the fact that there's an incredibly enjoyable atmosphere present which gives the film a lot to like. The build-up of the Christmas-time atmosphere, filled with the lights, ornamentations and decorations that are placed around the vicinity of the attacks which draw the shark in for the killing strike, leaves quite an intriguing mark here as that provides the shark with motivation and purpose. As this takes place around the holiday season, having plenty of decorations around allows the creature the chance to strike anywhere which gets brought to bear on the various attacks within here. Those attacks are just as much fun as well, carrying on the Christmas season theme of attacks to get plenty of nice, short shock-style attacks overall. From the initial sequence of the creature appearing at the pond starts this rather nicely by launching out of the water to grab it's victim to the boat ambush with it appearing and picking off the victim from the side of the boat, there are some rather fun attack scenes here that not only utilize the Christmas spirit but also giving this some fun attack scenes. The scenes of them battling the shark out in the water, though, provide this with the biggest action scenes where it focuses on their plans to stop it utilizing a series of conventional and then Christmas themed weaponry to stop the shark swimming around. The other big positive to the film is the fact that there's a rather heartwarming amount of real filmmaking tactics to give this a hint of talent behind the scenes. Focusing on the rather inane idea of a shark coming to life from the work of a magical pen allows this one to work in a grounded setting here with the family drama at the center of the whole dilemma, as well as giving the relationships between the friends to really bring it to light what the shark's actually doing. There's a rather impressive setup here with this type of storyline coming into play in this type of supposedly silly shark movie that keeps this moving along nicely even without having much in the way of attacks here. Along with the strong gore and fun practical effects throughout here, these helped to hold it up over it's few minor flaws. As with most of these films, the main issues with the film is the rather ludicrous and wholly silly-looking CGI on display for the shark, which is usually bad and is the same here. Not only does it feature the usual somewhat silly-looking effects which really highlight the poor graphics displayed, but the outlandish scenarios offered here highlight that even more by making a shark wrapped in Christmas lights with a candy-cane impaled on its head and broken light-bulbs for teeth which is all made to look even more than usually bad for these kinds of films. Likewise, the other issue is the somewhat goofy idea of the middle portion of the film going for the idea of everybody trying to find each other and continually missing the location of everyone else, making it somewhat redundant and comical despite the reality of the situation. These here aren't too bad and are the only real issues that hold it back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Language.

O.K., honestly all these SYFY movies are done with a very limited budget. but this one didn't even spring for any background extras. I don't remember seeing even one person in the background. For a town celebrating Christmas it was completely deserted. Otherwise this was a typical Christmas shark magical pen fantasy film. (And where DID Papa get that pen?)

From a joke plot. If you get dealt something called Santa Jaws about a Santa hat wearing killer shark you gotta roll with it. Get down in the mud with that pig and wrestle. Movies like Sharknado and Trailer Park Sharks embrace their B movie plots and come out entertaining but this movie seems ashamed of what it is and dreams of being a feel good 80's kid's movie that happens to have a Santa hat wearing shark born from a comic book that eats people. It doesn't work and it's boring.

I was looking for a action packed Christmas movie, and boy have I found it! Even sitting here writing this review two hours after the movie ended my pulse is still pounding. Family tension, coming of age, suspense, terrific score, beautiful back drop. I can't wait until the sequel.

Yes, it sounds ridiculous, but it's not to be lumped in with the usual schlock that comes along. It has actors who can actually act, and it doesn't look like it had the budget of a mere $100.

The plot seems like a mash-up of Home Alone and Jaws: The Revenge, so if that sounds like fun to you, you will enjoy this soon to be holiday classic.
