Led by the brothers Van Gunn (Reggie and Dick), Cock'd Gunns could become the biggest band in the world. The only thing separating them from their dreams is a total lack of work ethic, songs, a record deal, talent, and legions of fans.

This show was a good idea and I don't mind the actors in it but the writing just is not there and some of the jokes were just really painfully unfunny. Shame cuz the idea was good.

This show is hilarious. It's a perfect mix of ultra rude comedy and smart stupidity. These guys came up with great characters and a wicked story. Characters are pathetic but lovable. The writing is gold. Episodes are short but sweet. I watched all of them on the showcase site and wonder why it hasn't been picked up for additional seasons. I know I'm not alone. A documentary style works great for their content. I laughed hard at least once if not more in every episode. It really is smartly written. I don't laugh easily either. As the story progresses the situational comedy in every episode gets more ridiculous and entertaining. A show that starts out as a quick entertainment fix actually ends up hooking you in to see what will happen, which is the sign of a good show. Definitely give it a chance. It's the best show out of Canada I've seen in a while.

Cock'd Gunns is not a bad premise for a television show, especially when your goal is to make a cheap Canadian television show. Canadian TV comedy is pretty awful for the most part, the comedy channel has a lot of really horrible shows but Showcase seems to have a good feeling for what is funny. They made Trailer Park Boys (I understand if you don't like it but you can't argue that it is one of the biggest cult/smash comedy hits in recent years on Canadian comedy television) and other decent shows like The Corporation and Billable Hours. So when Cock'd Gunns was on this channel from public access Rogers TV I thought it would be worth a watch, it is mockumentary/comedy documentary style very much inspired by movies like Spinal Tap, and apparently a lot of it is supposed to be improvised. You can tell because the show is so disappointing and unfunny. I had high hopes and gave the series multiple viewings but the jokes and characters were all predictable and paper thin, I disliked most characters especially the lead guy who just seems desperate to deliver his jokes/make people laugh. It's really a terrible show with no funny jokes and the production values are not surprisingly very low considering it is a fake "documentary" series.

I think the idea behind this show is a good one but the execution could not be going much worse. They are obviously trying to be a mockumentary style show like a Christopher Guest movie such as the famous comedy "Spinal Tap". The characterizations are much too one dimensional though and none of the actions seem very believable, I think it is mostly because the actors are all new and not recognizable which could work for a show like this that is trying to be very much reality style looking but they just don't have the chops of people who are in movies like Spinal Tap, they can't carry scenes and make them funny. The plots are thin and it is obvious where they are going with them very early but the jokes are juvenile and obvious and the actors aren't good or funny enough to make me want to sit through the episodes. The girl who plays a loser is good but the band are one dimensional and the other girl has no purpose at all from what I saw except I guess she is supposed to be super hot so it doesn't matter? I'm 90% disappointed.

This is a total Trailer Park Boys rip-off without all the pesky comedy. I didn't check the ages of any of the actors but they are way too old for this idea to be funny. When a no talent band is losing their hair it's just sad. The girl friend is a total copy of the girl from TPB but even fatter and uglier. I laughed less then once per episode. I can't believe this was on television.

This show wasn't so bad it was like a fake documentary (or mocumentary) about this band who think they're the bomb and the people around them. It wasn't great but wasn't bad either.

Cock'd Gunns is edgy, bad ass comedy about the worst band you've never heard of. The first season (they only made one) is all about the guys trying to land a record deal and get famous.. The writing is incredible (they won a Gemini for best writing - for those of you in the US that's the Canadian equivalent of an Emmy) and also another one for Best Acting, and it was nominated for Best Show that same year. There are a ton of really amazing cameos and special guests that make appearances in the series as well including (now) Justin Bieber's musical director (Dan Kanter), comedy duo Adam & Dave, and a handful of other comedians and raw talent... If this show had a second season it would have certainly had another 5 more and got the kind of recognition that shows like Trailer Park Boys and Kenny V. Spenny have received. Despite being stepped on Cock'd Gunns has earned a cult following and is somewhat of an anomaly. The story and conflicts throughout are hilarious, raw, gritty and real.. If Larry David and Ricky Gervais had a baby, it would be Cock'd Gunns - a solid comedic depiction of the sex, drugs and rock n' roll in a series that will not disappoint.
