This entire film was shot in one fourteen hour day, at two Minneapolis locations. The first location, Washburn High School was only available for about eight hours on the scheduled day and it really did rain during the football scene. The remaining scenes for the flashback were shot after the school scenes in South Minneapolis.
The director wanted to have creative input from the cast and crew. By taking a bold move, he decided to give them the decision about what they would wear. While the crew set up, the main cast quickly made their decisions about their own wardrobe, and then assisted the huge group of extras with getting into varied stages of makeup for the shoot.
The Wonder Twins completely designed their own look and outfits and are actually sisters, just not twins.
