Canadian forensic psychologist Fortier has all the degrees and academic experience, even the knack to get things done with people, be it hardened suspects like Alain Charest or his estranged little daughters. She's funnily clumsy, always bumping into things, and too "scientific" to be convincing in an oral trial.

I agree with IMDb's "dancing_queen_joanna" about the writing by Fabienne Larouche being remarkable!

Consequently, the antagonist are believable, from the Maitre Jacques Savaria to the blonde shrink; the victims have subtleties, like above all Esther Charest (what an actress!!, she's despair itself, look at the way she walks, her personal attacks, her impulsivity) and Alain, his husband "not an angel but...", as her wife aptly describes him :).

The coppers are fine, my favourite being Gabriel Johnson, but all fulfilling a role. Like Étienne Parent being the "witty who sometimes goes a bit too far", then you have the forceful, the cool one, the clueless desk policewoman Suzanne Landreville and I was forgetting Kathleen Giroux, the courageous social assistant who intuitively knows "they've got to nail Alain".

Canadian French is tough on us non French/ Canadian, so subtitles are in order.

Enjoy and watch twice if possible for better results :)!

PS: This series are not for the faint of heart.
