Back in the old days, I stayed up late for RED SHOE DIARIES on South African pay-channel M-Net, and when a season ended, it was replaced by STRANGERS, which was in turn replaced with THE HUNGER. Which wasn't really my kind of thing, though some episodes, yeah! But I mostly just set the VCR's timer, it wasn't worth staying up for and getting disappointed most of the time. I nevertheless gave this series a try as I brought in DVDs for my RavenGlam collection, and am currently watching Season 2. Exasperated by what is on the screen. I know that horror isn't an ideal genre for what I am looking for (I've only got a few, but one of my favorites is Mädchen Amick in Stephen King's SLEEPWALKERS, but that is a different story, let me not digress), but this one does purport to be erotic.

Mainly just plain weird and gloomy and will really appeal to people who cut themselves or chant to some imagined dark forces.

Recently reviewed "Skin Deep" (Season 2 Episode 2) and that one meshed in nicely with my collection. Further on I am just greatly perturbed to find episode after episode that is just a waste of time. From the average viewpoint unbiased by my own prerequisitions I'd say this stuff is mostly a waste of time, really. Stay up late for a lame-assed little un-scary story with characters you do not care about?

Then came "The Diarist". Episode 8. Again something for me to enthuse about, solidifying the series as a viable purchase. This one concerns an amateur witch spurned in her quest for love. Lisa Anne Hadley as the vengeful spell-caster, and Daniela Olivieri as the fiancée who has to save her lover. Lisa goes all out portraying the alabaster-skinned witch driven by spurned desires (wonder how she managed those underwater scenes?), and Daniela is surprisingly pretty, with a striking face and long, glorious brunette mane, and has a scene wearing a snug-fitting white dress which clings to her body as she climbs barefoot onto a chair, giving a wonderfully charming rear view. Great for a horny guy! :) Call me biased against the other stuff, but with those two on the screen, the episode is something worth watching after a dry spell. I don't expect much from the other episodes though, the usual creepy dark stuff that is just morose?

For my sake, this should have been a three-part movie-length episode instead of some of that other stuff.
