This is the 4th movie that actor David Scott Diaz has worked with director Dustin Bacon.

Return of the Dead is very much inspired by Dan O'Bannon's Cult classic "The Return of The Living Dead" and is considered a tribute to his film.

Is considered a true sequel, follow up to the original "The Return of The Living Dead"

Takes place 30 years after The events in "The Return of the living Dead"

David Scott Lopez wrote the original story and pitched the idea to his film partner Dustin Bacon. The 2 came together and collaborated ideas. Dustin then wrote the final script within a week and months later began shooting summer of 2014.

The final act of the film was re-scripted and will be re-shot August of 2015.

The Red Carpet Premiere will be held in Grand Rapids, Mi on October 29 just 3 days before Halloween.

The movie went through a drastic makeover with unused footage being added into the final cut. 2 scenes in the early draft were shortened and the entire ending was Completely re-shot just 3 months before the actual release.

This is David Scott Diaz's first lead role in a feature length film.

David Scott Diaz who plays "Freddy" wanted to honor his father for this movie. He chose to list his name as "David Scott Lopez" in the opening/ending credits.

Return of the Dead was also inspired by the cult classic "The Monster Squad" There's a scene where the character "Freddy" gathers his group of friends in the basement after the party crashes giving everyone a pep talk to battle the zombies. That scene specifically pays homage to Actor "Andre Gower" and his character Sean when he's in the tree house where he has a meeting encouraging his friends to join him and fight the monsters!

FINALLY got to see this movie after 2 years when it was first announced! It truly felt like George Romero meets "Fear the walking dead!" This is by far the best low budget indie zombie film I've seen in a very long time. The score is awesome and cinematically looks on point to some of the bigger budget films nowadays. The only downfall is that I wish it would of been longer. It ended and I wanted more. Here's hoping they follow up with a sequel or even prequel of some sort. For those that enjoyed the original "The Return of the living Dead" this might just be the follow up many have hoped for years..and there is a ton of Easter eggs!!

As I hoped. I finally found this searching the net...This indie was actually worth the watch! I've seen SO many zombie films on syfy that just flat out sucked with bad cgi and acting. I'm a big fan of "The Return of the living Dead" and from the beginning of this movie there are TONS of fun references to the original which made this feel well connected or part of the same universe as they say.

"Freddy" in this film is quite a bit different from the original but I think it works to having him a bit more comedic and serious at the same time. The black humor works well in this as it did in ROTLD. The zombies are more realistic staying true to ROTLD with little makeup. There's a scene almost identical to the first film where there are a dozen or so zombies standing in front of a paramedic van. It's a nice nod to ROTLD. You can't miss it and is actually one of the best scenes of the film. This is one of those movies you want to watch on Halloween or something. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't seen this to watch the original first than this. The only negatives I had were that it should of been a little longer and maybe more gore? And why did they have the Freddy guy Smoke SO MUCH! lol - I think it was over the top but it's supposed to be an 80's type inspired film so I guess it's OK ha.

This movie was awful; supposedly some sort of offshoot of Return of the Living Dead, but this movie tanks. All dialogue was slow and very amateurish. Whoever wrote the other two reviews must have been part of the cast, because only they would enjoy this slime. I am a huge fan of zombie movies and I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.

Really enjoyed this! Finally a sequel? Follow up? that takes the original return of the living dead serious! Many fans will appreciate it. The score really hyped up the film. The story is pretty good, and quite a few nods to the original with the warehouse incident and the barrel! I was geeked at how many Easter eggs were put in the film!! This was by far the best follow up to the franchise because it had a serious tone rather than the make fun of zombies like they did in "The Return of the living Dead: Part 2" I was bummed though that their were no cameos from any of the original characters...but like I said before..the Easter eggs were great and make up for that! If you're a fan of the original and 1980's horror..this is for you!!
