So his father sent him to visit his uncle, explaining in a letter that Harvey was meek and modest and very unsophisticated. With his carpet-bag containing his few belongings, Harvey started on his journey, reaching the house of his uncle when a party was in progress in honor of the visit of Dorothy Deane, a friend of his cousin, May.
