If there is one word that sums up this documentary about a lesser known American serial killer, it is prolix. It begins with the disappearance of Bill and Lorraine Currier, who were murdered during the course of a home invasion. It covers Keyes' only other confirmed victim, a young woman who was kidnapped and murdered in Alaska, then there is a bundle of speculation and the psychobabble we have come to expect from such presentations.

A lot of this film consists of the narrator sitting about talking to both the viewer and others, in reality thinking out loud about other possible Keyes murders - did he or didn't he? Yes, he may well have murdered a man who walked into the forest wearing a Hawaiian shirt never to be seen again, but this disappearance should have merited at most a paragraph. Realistically, "The Secret Of Israel Keyes" could have been edited to half its length without losing anything significant.

It ends with an appeal to the viewer to participate in the search for victims. Seriously?
