Mark drops by Iris' apartment to complain about her treatment of sister Laura. Iris implies that something is going between Mark and Laura. Mark becomes angry and walks out, saying he's going to find a saloon. An upset Iris grabs a bottle and begins to drink. Tom pays a visit to the wealthy Mrs. Alex Porter. He questions her about her about her late husband's fertility clinic, Dr. Jim Abbott, and their relationship to Terry Andrews. Mrs. Porter coyly plays a cat and mouse game with Tom's questions. Her son Jock interrupts them, and before Tom leaves, Jock makes a comment about saying hello to Iris, which annoys Tom.
