Jean is a popular on-air television news reporter. He's been doing a series on the increasing police state in which they live, this condition being sanctioned by the political agenda of the sitting government. Because of these charged stories which he fervently believes, Jean is asked to resign, with the official story told to the public being that he is on a prolonged medical leave. He knows that he will be watched by the police because of the stories regardless of what he does following his resignation. Rather than stop his work, Jean decides to take a legitimate reporting job in the north as a cover, all the while continuing on with his exposés on the police state. Traveling around in an RV to collect these stories, he is accompanied by his girlfriend Lise, a schoolteacher who is on her summer break.
