At the time of his death, Mickey Rooney was signed on to play one of the three WWII veterans. Mostly only making small cameo appearances in the last few films of his 90-year career, Old Soldiers would have been his last substantial starring role.
James Best and Hugh O'Brian were both originally cast but unfortunately passed away during pre-production status.
Clifton James passed away on April 15, 2017.
Rance Howard had been cast for one of the lead parts but he passed away on November 25, 2017.
