Alexa Polar received a scholarship which assisted in funding for this documentary. The scholarship was given from the college she attended at the time, Orange Coast College, via the Film/Video Department as a Social Awareness Documentary Scholarship contest.
Won Best Documentary Short from the Film Miami Fest, the first film festival to showcase the controversial short film. Following the award win, filmmaker Alexa Polar has been approached to convert the short into a feature length documentary film.
This film has been said to be a well done documentary but many found it still too controversial or "political". After completion of the film, it took nearly over a year for it to finally received festival selections, ironically the first two selections are film festivals located in Florida. The first film festival to screen it, awarded the film Best Documentary Short at its festival.
